I thought this would be simple, but it isn't. I want to purchase a song as the new ringtone of my At&t Blackberry Pearl, and I have hit all sorts of roadblocks. So the song is Nelly Furtado's "Manos al aire", more specifically, I want JUST the chorus to be my ringtone, and damned if I can't make that happen. I am not particularly web or phone savvy, but somehow in the past, I managed to make "Man of constant sorrow" and "Cigarettes and chocolate milk" as my ringtones. Now I want a song that is one of those chart-toppers, and I can't make it happen without purchasing a subscription! I want to pay my US$ 2.49 and make this happen, but it isn't working, even on the AT&T website (which asks me to enter my type of cellphone, and after I do so, the site just shuts down). Help?!?

Here goes my lamest question ever...so, I have for some reason become determined to have the "Liberty Bell March" (aka the "Monty Python" theme song) as my phone's ringtone -- but, I'd like a clip of the ACTUAL recording, not some crappy MIDI file (which is all it seems I can find). anyone know where I can find that?

Jack Bauer's Ring Tone

What is Jack Bauer's cell phone ring tone? I'm on a quest for a new ringtone for my phone, and having a preference for things that aren't music but still have some sort of dorkiness to them, I've decided that I would love to have the ring tone that Jack Bauer (and tons of other people on 24) use.

I'm NOT talking about the CTU ringtone, the old "dootdoot, DEEEdoot" which you can find in a billion and a half places on the internet; I already have that, but it seems somewhat... passe since there is no longer a CTU. Also, everybody and their mother has that ringer.

I've heard the cell phone ringtone on other shows, which leads me to believe that it's an actual ringtone on an actual cell phone. If anyone has any idea what it is or (preferably) where I could download it, please help! My phone can do mp3s, so pretty much any file I could convert would be useful.

I have a Samsung SCH-A950 phone. Telus has crippled it. Has anyone figured out how to subvert the ringtone download store and use mp3 ringtones? Things I have tried already:

-BitPim (doesn't know the phone exists when I plug it in)

-Renaming an mp3 to .mid and putting it in "my sounds" on the phone (option to set as ringtone does not exist with telus firmware)

-Mobile web download sites (telus either blocks the download or doesn't let me set the file as a ringtone if it succeeds)

Usually, when you call somebody's cell phone and hear a beep after each ring, it means they are on the phone with somebody else. Are there any other ring indicators like that? I've heard extra-long rings or double-rings, for example, so I was just curious if that meant something, as well.

Looking for iconic, pop culture ring tones for my blackberry Since I don't really find it appropriate to use actual songs with lyrics, etc as a ring tone in a business environment, I'm using some normal ringers, but I want to add to my collection of work-friendly, but familiar to the trained ear ring tones.

Example of course, is the ring tone from 24. I also have the ring tone from Chev Chelios's cell phone from the movie 'Crank'.

Are there other pop-culture ring tones that I can get that are somewhat normal rings, but will be recognizable to other aficionados?

Free/custom ringtones for a KRAZR on a Rogers Canada plan? Apparently they have locked it but I'm sure you smart people know a way around it. :) I know there *has* to be a way to get around it, but as it stands I can't for the life of me figure out a way to get custom ringtones on to my phone apart from downloading them for a fee from their site (or muchmusic.com). Does ANYONE know of a site that will allow me to do it? Phonezoo.com worked amazingly on my old phone (a crappy old ROKR), but now the files I get from phonezoo on to my KRAZR don't have the "Apply as Ringtone" option.

HELP! I really miss my Kenny vs. Spenny rintones. :(

I have an mp3 I'd like to use as a ring tone, but it's 2 seconds too long. I don't want to cut off the beginning or end, but is there some other way to shorten it to 30 seconds? What software (OS X please) can do this? I realize some options might make it sound slightly off, but it's a ring tone so I shouldn't be too bothered by it.

Are there any cellphone MP3 players that let you set an mp3 as a ringtone? I'm thinking of replacing my cellphone and mp3 player, but I refuse to buy a combo device that won't let me set an mp3 as a ringtone, because that's insane. I also want to be able to buy an unlocked handset and use it with whatever provider I want, rather then being a slave. (Can you tell I really don't like the cellphone industry?) So basically I have this tiny little Samsung YP MP3 player, which is great for working out, but lately I've been taking my phone with me to the gym and it's silly to have two devices. According to a sales drone at Radioshack the Samsung UpStage for example, won't play mp3s as ringtones. What phones will? Any?

I'd also like to get something that let me surf the web like a toshiba g900 or a Nokia n95 provided they can play mp3s as ringtones.

What is Rusty's (Brad Pitt) cell phone ringtone in Ocean's 13? I have done some searching and have found multiple answers, so it's not as simple as it may sound. Last weekend I saw Ocean's 13 at a drive-in theatre (so the sound was through my car's speakers), but I immediately recognized Rusty's ringtone as "Don't You Want Me" by Human League. Today I was browsing through the IMDB Trivia for the movie and saw that "Thieves Like Us" by New Order is listed. This makes sense, I suppose, but it doesn't sound like what I remember hearing in the movie.

I did some more searching which turned up a bunch of Yahoo! Answers questions which received both answers along with some claims that it actually IS "Don't You Want Me." Can anyone provide a definitive answer?

Care to help me find a ringtone I heard on "The IT Crowd"? I'm looking for a sound file of the dramatic musical phrase "dun--dun--DUN!!!" to make a ringtone from. Yes, it's not an original idea, I saw it done by the character Maurice Moss on the BBC's "The IT Crowd".

I assumed someone else had already made this tone, and it appears that someone did, last year. It was picked up by BoingBoing and everything. Trouble is that the source is long gone, replaced by a link-farm.

I suspect this phrase is available on some sort of online sound effects library, but I don't know how to describe it.

Looking for a strange ring tone I heard in China in 2005. I've cruised the crappy ringtones sites out there on the internets and I'm having zero luck finding a ringtone I heard on a phone while in China. It sounds like a bird - kind of a weird chirping noise. When I first heard it I thought there was a bird in the room.

Anyone have a clue where I can find such a thing?

Does anyone know the site that allowed you to trim audio, convert to mp3, and send a link to your phone via SMS for free? I already know about mobile17, and that's not it. This one had no waiting time, was completely free, and a really nice audio-editor style graphical interface. It did it all through a really cool flash applet that showed you the waveform of the MP3 you uploaded, let you trim, preview, and click a button to zap it to your phone. Maybe the site name started with a Z?

Creating ringtones for download

I have some questions about creating phone ringtones for people to download. I successfully created a bunch ringtones in a bunch of different file formats(see #2 below). I used Sound Studio on my Mac, this site http://media-convert.com/ , and iTunes to make the mp3 so I didn't have to mess with LAME. I have all the files edited right... they sound good looping, etc.

Now I have some reality check type questions:

1. Ringtones loop, right?

2. These formats should cover me, right?
MP3, WAV, AAC, AMR and MMF

3. Should they be mono or polyphonic?

4. What is a good bit rate?

Also, If you know of a good tutorial, please pass it along.

I'd like a ringtone that wouldn't make you throttle me if you heard it in a public space. After four years with my trusty V60, I've entered the modern phone age with the RAZR V3c (with Telus, not Verizon.) I've also figured out how to get MP3 ringtones onto the phone, so the techy side is all ironed out.
I am, however, looking for a ringtone or chunk of a song that isn't annoying while remaining distinctive, and isn't too bassy (because the speaker in the phone can't hack it). Ideally, it'd be about 20-30 seconds in length and without lyrics.
