Due to a screw up on my part, I misplaced a friend's ring. I would like to order a replacement online, if possible. The ring is thick and bulky with elvish inscription around its sides.

I'm planning to ask my girlfriend to marry me this summer, when we take a two-week vacation overseas. The trick will be to bring the ring with me in a way that doesn't attract customs', or her, attention.

I am now wearing a shiny new engagement ring (yay!), but it's sliding a bit more on my finger than I'm comfortable with (boo!). I suspect it's just because of the cold weather and so I don't want to get it resized yet (and besides, I have larger knuckles). I'm looking for opinions on what type of ring-size adjuster I should use until I determine whether this ring is the right size. Options listed inside.

My mother gave me a pearl ring (one white and one black natural pearls on a simple silver band, can't find a close match online) to give to my fiance. It's incredibly small, and I would absolutely need to have it resized to fit her finger, by at least a half size, and as much as a whole size. What would that cost, and given the ring, is it worth it? It's from about 1970 or so. I'm in Chicago, is there any place that you can recommend?

How do I buy an engagement ring if I don't know my fiancee's ring size? It obviously can't be a surprise if I measure her ring finger ahead of time...

Usually, when you call somebody's cell phone and hear a beep after each ring, it means they are on the phone with somebody else. Are there any other ring indicators like that?

EngagementRingFilter: I'm coming upon that time in my life - I'm going to buy a ring and propose to my wonderful girlfriend. My problem is, though, that no matter how much I look up, and what I read, I still can't wrap my head around buying an actual ring. She wants something
like this, but I can't see to find anything. Help!

I live in Vermont. I work in a small town that has been directly affected by the recent Brooke Bennett tragedy (family involved 12 year old in sex ring and killed her, attempted to blame it on a MySpace predator) in an industry that is directly related to dealing with the aftermath.

Freakonomics, which amongst other things has persuaded me to look past media hype and compare numbers to actual relevant data. I have two questions

I'm looking for a men's thumb ring in the NYC area. I've never had a ring before, so I'm looking for something inexpensive, simple and casual to see if I like it first. Inexpensive is definitely under $50, preferably around $20. There's a lot of simple stuff I like
here, but I'd really like to go somewhere I can get sized and try a bunch on in person.

What grade of titanium are Walmart wedding bands?
I'd like a CP grade ring, since I understand aircraft grades can't be cut off. I've read that they should be stamped "CP", and I'm also wary of a ring coming from China with lead in it or worse?

Life is wonderful! There's no doubt in my mind that we're both ready (to say yes, at least). We're traveling to Las Vegas for a week’s vacation at the end of July, staying at a fancy-pants hotel, and will be taking a day trip out to the Grand Canyon – where I plan to ask her a certain question.
I’ve got the appropriate ring (I hope) picked out, and I’ll have it in my possession 4-5 days before we leave. We’re flying down to Vegas, which is exactly the trouble.
