What are some good books on the history of LGBT rights movement?

I really want to find out more about the history and progress of LGBT rights. Namely, early forms and social codes to express homosexuality, the civil rights movements and how psychology viewed before and now, and what led to finally removing homosexuality as a disorder from the DSM. [more inside]

I Do Not Want My Silence to Be Used Against Me. What's the Script?

I've only today discovered the SCOTUS ruling of Salinas vs. Texas and want to ensure I understand it and know what to say if I'm ever talking (especially informally) to the police. As previously discussed, this ruling determined that unless a person specifically invokes the right to remain silent at any time when speaking with police, their silence can be used against them. YANAL, YANML, and I am not looking here to critique this ruling, what I'm looking for is an exact script to say to the police whenever I'm talking to them. [more inside]

Is it legal for a job to not allow employees to take breaks?

I work in a house that has been designated as a group home for 5 disabled adults. The program/company is funded for by the state. I am an hourly employee who works a full 40 hours (plus up to 10-15 hours of overtime @ time and a half many weeks). My checks include deductions in all the proper taxes and stuff that any job would withdraw from. It's a full on legit job. [more inside]

Tracking down stolen guns

About 30 years ago my dad had a large gun collection (about 100 total). They were stolen and only about 10 of them were ever recovered. He had a list of models and serial numbers that he sent to local law enforcement. I still have that list. is there any chance of recovering more of the guns? How would I go about that?

Music industry - sideways moves from performing to...?

I graduated from music college in the UK about 10 years ago, and recently decided that while this time has been spent developing skills to augment my income as a freelance performer, I'd now like to consolidate those skills into a related career which would leave me more financially stable. For a long time now, I have been interested in becoming a music supervisor in the film/television industry, music researcher or working in a production music library. Whenever I have had any involvement with music rights or negotiating clearances, I've been fascinated by it but have never had the opportunity to have this as my main focus. How do I do this as someone who is not able to do long-term unpaid work experience/internships? [more inside]

Justice of the peace in elementary school?

I just found out my 8 year old stepson has to talk to a justice of the peace about an incident that took place about a month ago. I am uncertain what his rights are in this situation. The incident was that coins rolled onto the floor. My stepson and another child ran after it. My stepson pushed the other kid so he could get to it first, and the kid bruised his eye. They were and are still friends. My stepson was suspended for three days. My question is: does he have to talk to the justice of the peace and can I or his mother be present? This is in Michigan.
