My Craftsman riding lawn mower was belching white smoke and barely crawling forward this evening, so the lawn did not get mowed. In examining it, the air filter looks nasty, and the belt I can get to without disassembling stuff feels very loose. That belt appears to drive the blades. It's an 8 year old mower with a B&S engine The belts are original, and the air filter might be too. I don't remember when I last changed it. I change the oil and sharpen the blades in the spring and the thing just runs. It had be running OK, but a little rough, prior to today.
My question - it is likely a simple tune up and new belts fixes my symptoms? If odds are it is something more complicated I'd rather just get it fixed by a pro and be done with it. I can handle the simple tune up, but if it's likely to be in vain...

Hey London -- I have a pony request! No, really - a REAL pony request:
American Mefite visiting has heard rumours that there are actual pony/horse rides available at some local parks. This is as far as my knowledge on the matter goes.
I am an accomplished equestrian (and do tend to bounce when thrown, anyway) so, I don't want to ride a merry-go-round.
Where can I find a spot to go for a ride? Would anyone like to join me?

My boyfriend and I spent a lovely afternoon this Christmas riding around his old neighborhood on his mom and stepdad's bikes, and would now like bikes of our own. We'd basically just be riding around the neighborhood or occasionally on bike trails, and would like to spend under $250 each, if possible. Any recommendations?

[Possible Pipe Dream Filter] I used to ride horses competitively, and recently am longing to hang out with horses again. I'm not looking to compete, nor do I want to take lessons or go on guided trail rides, since I already know how to ride. I just want to get back into riding for the fun of it. What are my options, if any?

In a couple of weeks I'm going to start bicycling to work every day (excepting rain or snow). There'll be hardly any traffic to speak of, since I'll be biking on the Charles River bike paths in Boston. I've never biked to work regularly before: any commuting bicyclists have any tips?
