How many millionaires are self-made? The commonly repeated statistic, apparently from
The Millionaire Next Door, is that only 20% of millionaires came from millionaire upbringings - which is then used to argue that class privilege doesn't really exist in America, and if you only work hard enough... I can slice that argument up easily enough (many of those millionaires are doctors, for instance, who rarely come from underprivileged households). But how many millionaires really are self-made? I can't find a source with data to back it up (other than quotes from that book, which I don't have, and so I don't know if it backs up the claim or not).

Let's pretend I'm rich. Maybe not a member of the 1%, but definitely a member of the 10%: What kind of household staff would I have? What would I call them? And what would they call me?

This past weekend was Grand Prix weekend in Montreal. Living here, it's kind of weird to see the influx of fast luxury cars on city streets. Over the years, I've heard rumours here and there about the Grand Prix entourage - that is, people who basically spend their lives going from Grand Prix to Grand Prix, wherever it's held, and partying around it. They aren't, in any real way, associated with the Grand Prix. Apparently they are just young and rich. Where can I go to read/learn more about this (mythical?) group of the fast & delerious?

What is the likelihood of my product selling such that I make $1000 a month? What money I've put into it isn't an issue as it was sort of extra money that I wanted to put to something like this anyway. Everything I do to figure out how much I'll make seems to imply that I'll be rich (for a student) and I don't believe that's true, but I can't figure out what I'm missing.

Strange things happen to me regularly, and the last one left me with about $3000. I'm only 21, have no consumer debt and don't need to use any of it. I want to put it away, but I have no idea how.

Where does the "stereotypical rich white guy" voice come from? I've been doing it for years, but have no idea how it originated.
Here's a good example, someone doing an impression of Judge Whitey on Futurama.

What are some of the
stupid things rich and famous people have spent their money on? I know about Michael Jackson and his ten AIBOs, for example. What are some other examples? Actors, politicians, athletes, past and present — tell me about their excesses.

What do rich people have that we don't? To be more specific, what are the little inconveniences that the middle class/lower class/middle-rich/foo/bar have to deal with, but when you have enough money you can get around easily. I don't mean the obvious ones, I mean things like showers that you have to fiddle with to get the temperature, or razor burn.

What's the defenition of "rich"? During the convention i've heard "rich" equated with household incomes of $100K or more. That seems like an incredibly low number to me -- is it 'cause I live in New York?
