Is there a way to track a human being electronically for their own safety and not entirely with the person's consent? I'm asking this for a friend whose father has mild alzheimer's and wanders off. I'm not really asking if it's moral to do this but if you feel the need to give your opinion on that, knock yourself out.
I want to know if there is a technology that will allow her to track her father's movements electronically, not through a cell phone or a bracelet or implanting something under his skin. If it matters, this is in New York City.

Is there a cat flap and/or cat door that works with 10 digit microchips? There is one available in Europe that only reads 15 digit microchips--most microchips in the U.S. are only 10 digits. Are we yankees to go without our RFID cat flaps? [more inside]

I am looking for more information on ‘Paper Batteries’ in relationship to RFID. I have found plenty of information on RFID, but the term ‘Paper Battery’ does not seem to produce many fruitful results. The information I am looking for would be in relationship to the technology, production practices, workflow, or process management practices in the field of Graphic Information Technology. RFID proponents always point out that its effective distance is only a couple of meters at best and therefore couldn’t pose a significant privacy concern in the future if used on people. However, wouldn’t that effective distance be much larger if more powerful transceivers were used than current models?

I'm looking for a product that performs the same function as the "page" button on my cordless landline. Press a button on the base, and the lost phone starts beeping until you find it. Ideally this is something small enough to attach to objects like keychains, remote controls, wallets, small digicams (RFID?). Anybody ever heard of anything like this?
