Help me start saving for retirement (U.S.)

I would like to finally start saving for retirement! I'm thinking a Roth IRA is the way to go (unless you think otherwise and can tell me why), but I am a little confused/overwhelmed with how to proceed. A few snowflakes inside. [more inside]

I graduated college last year. I know I should be at least thinking about saving and 401ks and things like that but I moved countries, started grad school and I don't know where I'll be living in three years let alone thirty. How do I do financial planning? [more inside]

403(b), TIAA-CREF v. Fidelity, WTF?

I'm finally out of school and in the working world, and now in the midst of trying to orient myself I'm trying to figure out if/how I should sock money away in a tax-deferred account with either TIAA-CREF or Fidelity.
