help me navigate the world of retail/hospitality part-time jobs

I need a part-time job to make some sort of income while I'm completing a post-bacc. I am okay with mindless jobs because my classes exhaust my brain enough. I am trying to decide between the hospitality industry vs retail. Share your knowledge so that I can have a better grasp on the pros/cons of each. [more inside]

Is having a full-time job while attending college a good thing?

Hired in 2 years ago as part-time help, promoted to key-holder, and now offered to opportunity to go higher up. Is a job promotion and the increased pay that comes with it worth delaying the amount of time it takes to complete post-secondary education? Really making money and going to school, are they compatible/desirable? How would taking a salaried job affect financial aid available to me? [more inside]

Working in Retail

Following a second interview tomorrow morning I will more likely than not be working at a large chain bookstore for a few months (including, obviously, the holiday season). I've never worked in retail, or anything that required me to deal with the public for that matter. I'm not expecting it to be very difficult, but is there anything I should know?

Ow. My face.

Let me preface this question by saying that I work in retail. More specifically, I work in a slightly smaller than K-Mart national chain big-box store specializing in low quality clothing and home crap. Anywayz: I fell at work. Actually what happens was that the entire back wall of the checkout lane I was using fell as I was leaning against it and took me with it. Yes. Best day ever. What do I do? [more inside]
