Sure, I accomplished....something. Workfilter edition.

I took a job two years ago thinking it was a great opportunity, and instead, it's turned out to be terrible. Lots of nice people and good intentions, but little infrastructure, tight budgets, and an executive director whose poor leadership skills are equaled only by her desire to micromanage. Long story short, I have about 8 weeks to meet some (unreasonable) departmental goals or I'm likely to get fired. Help me turn two years of helping my department tread water in spite of huge organizational obstacles into accomplishments for my resume, please? [more inside]

My PhD lab is still paying me post-graduation-Should my CV say postdoc?

I graduated with a biochem PhD a month or so ago. As is common practice at my institution - my thesis advisor offered me a few months of additional funding to finish up some papers while I hunt for industry jobs. Formally, I now have a post-doc appointment and salary, but I'm not actually taking on any new projects or doing any new science, nor do I have funding to stay her for more than another month or two. How should this look on my resume? I'm only applying to industry positions, not to academic positions or proper post-docs. [more inside]

How Can I Help My Mom Help Herself?

Hey Mefites, here's my question: My younger sister, mother, and I suffered years of abuse at the hands of an alcoholic stepfather - physical, verbal, etc. When we were younger, my sister and I were absolutely focused on getting the fuck out and did, getting scholarships to great schools, thankfully. My mom, not so much. She is no longer in a relationship with him, but they have been living together for economic reasons - she needs his disability paycheck to pay the bills (all of which are in her name, including the mortgage payment.) I'd like advice on where to post my resume, SF legal tech.

I'm in the Bay Area legal tech field. I'd like a job in SF proper, as my commute to Mountain View is brutal. My skills are legal tech, meaning mostly managing projects and programs related to the legal field in the tech industry. However, I feel that I have management chops for any industry, and I've worked in the start-up atmosphere before. Where should I post my resume? My LinkedIn is beefy, I've posted on Monster and Indeed. Any other ideas?

How do I get a job in San Francisco with a paper-thin resume?

Resume question- is this a big deal?

I started my own business and instead of the five month gap on my resume, I wrote it down as it it were only a three month gap. I told myself that in those two months prior to starting the business I was looking for business opportunities (as well as considering full time work opportunities and also considering not working at all), and that this was in fact how I found my current business model. Do you think there is something wrong with this? [more inside]
