I am just a couple weeks from receiving my bachelor's degree, and thanks to my college career counselor I feel like I now know what I'm doing when it comes to resumes, cover letters, and the interview process. I'm applying for an administrative/HR position, and the company's online application has be concerned that I don't look like as good a candidate. Should I mail the resume/cover letter in, or deliver it personally, and ignore the online app? [more inside]
Resume question time. I am working on a full CV, with more or less everything, but want to know just how full it should really be... [more inside]
I applied to this job online by sending my resume, and after I was contacted by the HR lady, I told her that I had an updated version of my resume and so I sent it to her. A few days later, I then realized that I actually sent a wrong copy of my resume, which leaves off some of my education.
It also erroneously outlined a job function that I did not actually do. The reason why it is wrong is because I didn't know how to word it precisely at first, but after a second draft (the correct version) I came up with a better description of what I did.
So, do you guys think it will be fine if I email her the correct version of my resume and explain that I inadvertently sent her the wrong version? Or will it look bad? The interview is already set up by the way.

I've been unemployed since the end of September. Recently, I've had two separate people (one (a recruiter) whose opinion I respect, and one (a woman at unemployment) whose opinion I find suspect) tell me that they would never consider anyone who submits a functional style resume
(which is what I use). Do you hire people or work in HR? What do you think? [more inside]
job hunt / resume question (creative/tech positions). I worked in the video game industry, and am applying for positions outside that industry. Should I include in my resume a note that video game credits are often inaccurate and checking them does not substitute for contacting an employer if seeking confirmation? [more inside]
On my resume, I fudged the end date for my last job by six weeks, to cover up a bad situation where I was not at fault. A new company has given me an offer, checked my references, and sent me all the new hire paperwork. I'm supposed to start in two weeks. Only problem? I had to consent to a background check. Now I'm concerned that my lie will be uncovered. What do I do? [more inside]

I am applying for a job advertised on a company website. The career page says to send resumes to an HR email address (HR@company.com). The page also has the name and email of the HR specialist (JohnDoe@company.com). Should I address my letter to the HR specialist even though I am not emailing him directly? [more inside]
A friend of mine is reworking her resume. It includes a brief period (less than 3 months) in which she was temporarily running her father's (small) business after he suddenly became incapacitated by illness. After this, her elder sister took over. Apart from the obvious point of listing the actual tasks performed + skills required, what is an HR-friendly way of describing this situation? [more inside]
