Pursuant to two
earlier questions today regarding how to get jobs one is overqualified for, I was wondering about taking degrees and job titles off of my resume. Isn't that unethical? Won't it come up, eventually, that I have this whole other degree? If it matters, I'm a master's-degreed librarian with 10+ years' experience looking for work as a library assistant or in an lower-level university admin capacity.

After working for myself for several years (while taking care of a parent) I'm about to enter the job market again. I'm going to a very large job fair next week, and I'm suppose to bring a resume. I'm not sure how that works. Help?

Where in a cover letter or resume can I make it clear how tech savvy I am? I am a middle-aged woman and I am afraid that potential employers will see my years of experience and bypass my resume as my field is becoming very techy and many older professionals in the field are way behind the curve.

Where can I find great examples of resumes / cv's? I will be pursuing a new job in the next 6 months and would like to polish up my resume now. I think my resume is pretty good, but I would like to look at some different approaches to brainstorm how I may tighten it up. I am a I.T. project manager if that helps. My Google-Fu is turning up sites with resumes templates that are, ummmm, a lot worse than my existing resume. Any general tips would be much appreciated as well, but I am more interested in format, structure, and wording. Help me find example resumes that jump off a recruiter's desk!

Two dumb questions about cover letters:
1. If I really do not have the name or title of the person to whom the letter is addressed, what is the preferred salutation?
2. When applying for a part-time job, should I explain in my cover letter that my current job is also part-time, if that's unclear from my resume?

I've found that the practice of tailoring resumes and cover letters (to various jobs in various industries) is a somewhat cumbersome process. I'm looking for ideas and/or software from those who have found an efficient workflow for doing so.

I just graduated college in May with an English degree and a 3.7 GPA. I am looking for my first job. I'm looking for tips on cover letters, resumes, letters of inquiry, and perhaps fields I've overlooked. I haven't even landed an interview in my hunt so far so I'm ready to ramp this up to get some results. Extra information about my experience, my fields of interest, etc. in the paragraphs to follow.

When applying for a job from, say, a newspaper or internet classified ad, should I send my resume with references, or should I wait until I'm asked for references? I'm thinking the former is better, though it can possibly hint at a bit of desperation to get the job. Also, should I write a cover letter as a separate Word doc, or just write it in the body of the email itself?
