I'm applying for my first management level position. I have the requisite number of years experience in the relevant field. In addition to that though, I have recent experience co-managing a very large and complex family estate (that of my grandparents'). Help me reflect this in my job application. Smattering of snowflakes inside.

Hey Mefites, here's my question:
My younger sister, mother, and I suffered years of abuse at the hands of an alcoholic stepfather - physical, verbal, etc. When we were younger, my sister and I were absolutely focused on getting the fuck out and did, getting scholarships to great schools, thankfully. My mom, not so much. She is no longer in a relationship with him, but they have been living together for economic reasons - she needs his disability paycheck to pay the bills (all of which are in her name, including the mortgage payment.)

Pursuant to two
earlier questions today regarding how to get jobs one is overqualified for, I was wondering about taking degrees and job titles off of my resume. Isn't that unethical? Won't it come up, eventually, that I have this whole other degree? If it matters, I'm a master's-degreed librarian with 10+ years' experience looking for work as a library assistant or in an lower-level university admin capacity.

I've had the same job for the past 6 years. In that time, my job title has changed 3 times, my department has been involved in four major reorgs and been moved all over the company, my department name has changed 5 times, and I've reported to 4 different people. Throughout all that, the actual job I've been doing has remained the same. How do I indicate that on a resume for an internal position in another department?

I'm going to be on the hunt for tech jobs in London soon and I'm putting together my CV. I read
here that people with foreign sounding names (me!) should put 'British Citizen' somewhere near the top. Is this actually still an issue? It feels awkward to stick it in there next to my contact details.

How does one frame a CV and other correspondence such that the fact that the skills and experience were acquired in a different industry is de-emphasised?

A company has unique titles like for project managers they call them team leads. I rather use titles that are better understood and more common and searchable. Would this be considered misrepresenting facts or lying???

Where can I find great examples of resumes / cv's? I will be pursuing a new job in the next 6 months and would like to polish up my resume now. I think my resume is pretty good, but I would like to look at some different approaches to brainstorm how I may tighten it up. I am a I.T. project manager if that helps. My Google-Fu is turning up sites with resumes templates that are, ummmm, a lot worse than my existing resume. Any general tips would be much appreciated as well, but I am more interested in format, structure, and wording. Help me find example resumes that jump off a recruiter's desk!

I have decided to significantly alter my career path. There's no urgency except for that which I self-impose: That is, I want to be taking real steps towards change each and every day to maintain my sanity (and therefore my paycheck) in my current career. And then I'll jump ship a little bit before it feels safe to do so.

I'm looking for tips on cover letters, resumes, letters of inquiry, and perhaps fields I've overlooked. I haven't even landed an interview in my hunt so far so I'm ready to ramp this up to get some results. Extra information about my experience, my fields of interest, etc. in the paragraphs to follow.

What blogs / sites make you say "I want to hire this guy!". What is it about those sites that makes you say this? If and when my next employment search comes up, I would like to have a web presence that gives prospective employers a window into my work, thoughts, outlook, etc. I am looking for blogs that do a great job at selling the author to potential employers. I am interested in content but also the sites presentation and functionality. I am more interested in business related blogs rather than designer / portfolio types sites, but will take all comers. Blogs that incorporate photos of the author would be a bonus. Help me find examples of great personal salesmanship on the web.

I understand that people post their resumes at places like Monster.com and Careerbuilder.com, but you have to be an employer and pay for the privilege of reading them. Is there an easier way for regular folk to see what good resumes look like for people applying in a certain field? (I'm thinking of USDA/agricultural work specifically, but also wondering in general)
