Catching up between LA and Yorba Linda?

An old friend is visiting my vast metropolitan area and we'd like to meet up for lunch tomorrow. What's a good, infant-friendly spot to grab a bite of lunch, sip a beer (maybe shoot some pool?), somewhere between Yorba Linda, CA and downtown Los Angeles? [more inside]

if you say "Hy's" I will just have to smack you over the internet

My girlfriend wants to celebrate a recent work success by taking us out to dinner. She's letting me pick the restaurant. Ideally, I'd like a really good steak, since I don't eat really good steak that often. However, she doesn't really care for steak. What restaurant in Toronto serves both A) a variety of really great steaks and B) has a good selection of quality non-steak entrees on the menu? (She also wants to wear her brand new little black dress and be all pretty, so higher-end would be preferred.)

Interesting restaurants in DC?

We'll be in DC in the first week in August, and we're looking for restaurant suggestions. Good food and an interesting experience are our top criteria; cheap to moderately expensive is okay - but not interested in stuffy or super-expensive fine dining. [more inside]

Gimme lobstah!

My gentleman friend and I will be spending the weekend in Boston. We've been before, so we've covered the Newbury stretch and would like to branch out a bit this time. We'd like to eat and drink at some great local places (no chains, please). Neptune Oyster is on our list. What are some of your favorite restaurants and/or bars in Boston and why? (We're staying at a hotel on the Waterfront, but are certainly not limited to that area.) Thanks all!

Where should we eat?

Yet another Chicago restaurant suggestion needed: 5 adults, 2 of whom's flight is coming in this evening and we want to give them a special "Chicago" experience. Preferably in the Loop? I live in Rogers Park and we don't want to have to go running all over the city. We will probably go straight from the airport to the restaurant. I'm also looking for a nice place to have brunch tomorrow near the Palace theater downtown. Have any thoughts? [more inside]

Large Group Dining in NYC

I currently live in NYC and am graduating from grad school here in about two and a half weeks. My family will be coming up for the ceremony, and I'm struggling to figure out a place for us all to eat dinner. Problem is, there will be 9 of us total, which eliminates a lot of places I like. Eating out with milk allergy/intolerance

I want to know how have people with milk allergies and/or lactose intolerance changed their lifestyle in terms of eating out. It seems it should be simple- all you need to know if there is milk in it- but then again, not so much, esp if its not consistent (different brands etc). I am not interested in answers of the kind, "ask the waiter" but I am more interested in knowing how it affected this part of your life. Is it a drain to eat out with people at the new office when they ask you out? Do you turn a date down just because..? How did you accept that you may never be able to enjoy that ice-cream or cheesecake again?? (sigh)

Help me identify 2 restaurants in NYC

Two part question. 1. In '08 I ate at a restaurant in Manhattan, and I can't remember the name. It was on top of a building, there was a garden/atrium/bar outside the dining room. I remember seeing big king-like chars at each table. The menu listed a fantastic mac 'n cheese. Any ideas? 2. A friend told me about a great restaurant in Chinatown that has incredible steamed buns of all sorts. Does anyone know the name?

Restaurants in Brooklyn Open on Xmas?

My family is staying with me in Brooklyn this year for Christmas. If we don't murder each other before Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, does anyone have any recommendations for good restaurants that are open on Christmas Day in Brooklyn? For Christmas Eve, we were thinking about cooking at home but also ordering in, so any recommendations for that (I live in North Park Slope, so it would have to be somewhere close by)?
