Where should we go to eat in London? We are interested in experiencing something different/quirky and not outrageously expensive but we don't need to cheap out either. We'll probably try Babalou
which existed as a vegetarian restaurant when we lived in London but has now changed hands and name.

If you arrive early for a table reservation, is there a chance you can get the table then, or do you necessarily have to wait? In other words, have you booked a particular table which, if free, could be given to you? Is showing up early by 10 or 20 minutes rude or preferred?

I'm looking for a nice restaurant in Traverse City, MI to take my wife for our anniversary. I am looking to spend under $100 as we are on a pretty tight budget while camping. We don't need super fancy but a non-chain would be nice. I prefer a non-ethnic restaurant, hopefully one that has gluten-free food offerings. (I have celiac's.)

I'll be in St Louis with my girlfriend and her 8 year old daughter Sunday evening through Monday afternoon to hit the Zoo. We wanted to do one meal at Crown's Candy and one at Pappy's Smokehouse but they will both be closed by the time we get there Sunday.
Any scoop on good St Louis eats
open on a Sunday night? Any style is good, but rustic, homey and even "divey" is better (The girl is partial to BBQ, soul food, baked goods, Mexican and Italian). There seem to be many great restaurants, but the "open-Sunday-night" bit seems to be the challenge. Thanks!

What are the alternatives, while on vacation, to devoting so much time to looking for restaurants and eating in restaurants? It seems like vacations are way too much about consuming meals.

Why are there so many Chinese restaurants in America that serve really cheap, low quality food, compared to, say, Thai restaurants, which seem to always have fresher ingredients? I've seen what really good, genuine Chinese food looks like from shows like Iron Chef, and I'd love to try some, but every restaurant I eat at always seems like they serve reheated food out of vats. How can you find the good Chinese restaurants in your town? I know they must be out there.

At many restaurants, after the starter course is finished, the waiter will remove my dirty knife and fork from the plate, and leave them for me to use with my main course. I dislike this, and usually will ask for a clean knife and fork for the next course.
My question is: what is the thinking behind this? The added cost I would think is trivial, and it just seems really weird to expect people to eat a new course with food from the last course on the utensils. Is there some financial aspect to putting more utensils through the dishwasher that I'm missing?
