Where to go for dinner next in NYC? I'm a lifelong New Yorker and love going out to eat. However, I feel like I'm in bit of a rut, mostly returning to neighborhood reliables and a handful of other favorite restaurants around the city. The wealth of information about NYC restaurants out there is pretty daunting, so I'm hoping for some direction from the hivemind. Some more details inside.

I could use some input on how I can pull off the bachelorette party I have envisioned, in New York City, in late May of this year. Keywords: fun (not raunchy), slumber party, karaoke, good food, overnight.

I will be staying in a rented apartment at 28th St and 2nd Ave in the Kips Bay Area of New York City for a week at the end of April. Can anyone familiar with the area (Kips Bay, Manhattan) orient me to local transportation, fun activities, and good eats?

NYC restaurant filter: Taking an elderly, out-of-town couple (that we don't know well) out to dinner. We'd like to take them somewhere reasonably nice (cost not a concern), but we do know that they prefer plainer foods that are easy on the digestive system. Manhattan required, midtown preferred. A little extra detail inside.

I have a 30th birthday coming up in NYC and I'm trying to think of some fun restaurants, places to go (i.e. bowling, paintball, karaoke), and or things to do.
I'd like for a group of us to be able to eat and do something (like bowl) at the same time then we'd all go out to a bar afterward.
Anyone have any fun restaurant or party place suggestions in NYC?
btw, not interested in bowling or karaoke suggestions

I go to NYC at least once a month, and I'm always on the hunt for good vegan restaurants, especially in the East Village area, although I'd love to hear about good eats in other areas of the city as well. I've been to Quintessence, Bonobos, and Caravan of Dreams, and I go gaga over LifeThyme, the grocery/bookstore/cafeteria on 7th Ave and 9th St - they have six inch high veggie pizza that's to die for. Are there any more yummy vegan places I need to know about, and if so, what's the most yummilicious thing on the menu?
