Seeking recommendations for great food, bars, and any must-see sights in Brooklyn, NY. This is for a visit starting tomorrow. [more inside]
I go to New York about once a year, and have been to many restaurants over the years -- both high-end and (more often) not so high end. My favorite restaurant used to be Bellavitae on Minetta Lane, but it's been closed for more than a few years now. Tia Pol in Chelsea is still around, but I was there last time. [more inside]
We will be staying on Upper West Side at 73rd near Broadway from October 9-17. Could you please suggest places to go and things to do? 1. Favorite breakfast places nearby? 2. Favorite things to do in NYC, low to moderate cost? 3. Favorite restaurants for lunch or dinner, both moderately priced and splurgy? 4. Any special events or festivals going on at that time? 5. Any guesses about the weather and how many warm clothes to pack? 6. Inspirations that I haven't thought of? Thanks Hivemind. [more inside]
Hi all- Heading up to NYC in a few weeks for my birthday and I'm trying to plan a fantastic weekend. Before my job became my life, I was much more up on what to do mind where to go in NY. Now, I'm a bit more clueless. Can you help? [more inside]
Where to go for dinner next in NYC? I'm a lifelong New Yorker and love going out to eat. However, I feel like I'm in bit of a rut, mostly returning to neighborhood reliables and a handful of other favorite restaurants around the city. The wealth of information about NYC restaurants out there is pretty daunting, so I'm hoping for some direction from the hivemind. Some more details inside. [more inside]
I could use some input on how I can pull off the bachelorette party I have envisioned, in New York City, in late May of this year. Keywords: fun (not raunchy), slumber party, karaoke, good food, overnight. [more inside]
My husband and I are taking my nearly 2 year old on her first trip to New York. We're going to be there to buy books and fabric, but this will take less than a day out of our three day trip. We've been to New York dozens of times, but never with a kid in tow. We'd like some suggestions for toddler-friendly shops, sites, and restaurants that we can use to break up our errands. I'm going on a trip to New York in the middle of July, and I'd like to have a meal at one of the fancier restaurants in the city -- say, Eleven Madison Park or Jean Georges. Unfortunately, I didn't plan things out very far in advance, so I don't have a reservation. What should I do to maximize my chances of getting a seat? [more inside]

NYC restaurant filter: Taking an elderly, out-of-town couple (that we don't know well) out to dinner. We'd like to take them somewhere reasonably nice (cost not a concern), but we do know that they prefer plainer foods that are easy on the digestive system. Manhattan required, midtown preferred. A little extra detail inside. [more inside]
My family is staying with me in Brooklyn this year for Christmas. If we don't murder each other before Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, does anyone have any recommendations for good restaurants that are open on Christmas Day in Brooklyn? For Christmas Eve, we were thinking about cooking at home but also ordering in, so any recommendations for that (I live in North Park Slope, so it would have to be somewhere close by)?
I'm going to be in NYC with my girlfriend over Christmas, and need some advice from the hive mind about the general opening hours of restaurants and cafes on Christmas day in Manhattan. [more inside]

Can you help me plan a little NYC walking tour? What's the most interesting, scenic, and fun way to walk from Greenwich Village to Chinatown, and what are some places we shouldn't miss? [more inside]
I'm in New York City until Sunday. I've been exploring mostly without direction so far, but I thought I'd throw it out to you guys. What should I see or do before I leave? [more inside]
I'm going to Churrascaria Plataforma in NYC in a couple of weeks, an all-you-can-eat Brazilian restaurant that encourages gastronomic excess. What are strategies I can employ to help me consume more food than a person should reasonably eat in a single sitting? (Time isn't a factor, I don't think--it's a fixed-price menu, and I believe you can stay as long as you like.) And is there any Brazilian cuisine that I should try while I'm there?
