Restaurant recommendations near Dupont Circle (Washington DC)?

I moved to DC recently-ish, but haven't explored the restaurant scene very well. Now I have a friend coming to town next week, staying right near the Dupont Circle Metro station, and I could use some recommendations for places to eat. Can any locals help me out? We're both omnivores, and while I'd prefer economical options, I don't think we're averse to considering something pricier if it comes highly recommended.

There was a previous question about Dupont Circle-area eats from 2011, but since the top contender in those answers has apparently closed by now, I'd love to get some more recent input. Please help me be a good host!

Help me plan a special dinner

Looking for a nice place for an anniversary dinner in Chicago. Mrs. Ghidorah and I will be visiting family for about a week in March, and we're looking to have a slightly belated anniversary dinner on March 22nd. We'll be staying out in the deep burbs (we'll be able to see Six Flags from my aunt's window), but we'll be heading into the city. Ideally, we'd like to do something fun during the day, then have a nice meal. I've read a lot about how Chicago has such an amazing food scene, but sadly, I'm completely out of touch.

I saw this question, and I was wondering if there are any other ideas out there. My wife's main concept of fine dining in America seems to be big chunk of meat type places, which she isn't all that crazy about, and has asked that we not go to a steak place, which is fine with me (although I'm really into charcuterie and well made food).

We were talking about tapas, which we both love, but we'd be open to other can't miss ideas. We'd love any suggestions for dinner, as long as it's easy access to the El or Metra (or short taxi rides) since we won't have a car. Any ideas for fun things to do during the day would be much appreciated as well. We're saving museums/Art Institute stuff for another day, so anything fun to do daytime, downtown, in March, if you can think of anything.

40,000 restaurants in the downtown area and I pick the one my mother goes to.

Chicago birthday restaurant for locavore foodies aged 30 and 60 and their adult companions (six people total). Early evening Saturday, River North (or anywhere downtownish). GO! We'd like a place that will let us linger a bit and enjoy each other's company. The 30-year-old, my brother, lives in Chicago right by Navy Pier and is culinarily trained. The 60-year-old, my mom, is a farmers' market devotee. My brother's girlfriend and I are more or less pescetarians, but everyone else eats meat.

Ideally, we're thinking of a place not quite as high-end as Everest or Tru, but still something of an experience. Maybe up to $100/person, including wine (we're not big lushes, but I'd love to get my mom tipsy :P).

We're probably looking at January 29 or later, so we have a *little* time to call ahead.

Thanks!

Where should we eat?

Yet another Chicago restaurant suggestion needed: 5 adults, 2 of whom's flight is coming in this evening and we want to give them a special "Chicago" experience. Preferably in the Loop? I live in Rogers Park and we don't want to have to go running all over the city. We will probably go straight from the airport to the restaurant.

I'm also looking for a nice place to have brunch tomorrow near the Palace theater downtown. Have any thoughts? I know it's kind of short notice for places that need reservations. Don't worry about price range.

I am looking at Yelp right now but it's just overwhelming..

Where can we get a nice dinner in Paris near the 1er?

I want to take my husband out for a nice dinner in Paris for his birthday. The catch: I'm pregnant and have some weird food aversions. We're heading to Paris at the end of May, and we'll be there over Mr. Informed's birthday. We haven't had a proper vacation in years and this is likely to be our last just-us trip for some time, as we're expecting a baby in the fall. So I'd like to take him somewhere nice for a birthday dinner. We don't need a Michelin star or anything--but a romantic atmosphere and delicious food are key.

Here are the relevant details:

We're staying in the 1er, close to the Concorde and Tuileries Metro stops, and a place within walking distance or a short Metro ride would be great.

We generally like all kinds of food, although due to pregnancy aversions/restrictions, I'd prefer somewhere where I could avoid blue/veined and unpasteurized cheeses, lamb, organ meats, anything that smells fishy, and anything cooked rare (sigh). I don't mind if these are on the menu, of course, as long as there's something else I can eat. So that may not be a complicating factor after all.

And finally, if possible, the cost for the two of us should be under $200 (about 150 Euros).

Any recommendations? Extra bonus points if I can make a reservation online, since I speak no French and would prefer to surprise Mr. Informed rather than ask him to call for the reservation.

If my budget is impossible, please tell me that too--and then tell me where you'd head and what a more reasonable estimate would be!

Israeli virtual dinner -- where is it?

Does anyone know of a restaurant (in Israel, I believe), where people act as if they are eating, the waiters as if they are serving, the ambience is set up as if it were a real restaurant, and there is a real tab -- but there is neither real food nor beverage to be found anywhere?
