I moved to DC recently-ish, but haven't explored the restaurant scene very well. Now I have a friend coming to town next week, staying right near the Dupont Circle Metro station, and I could use some recommendations for places to eat. Can any locals help me out?

Can you list some bars and restaurants in DC that would be good for a group of 10-12, all 21+? I'm open to making reservations, but a) bars probably don't take them and b) it would also be nice to be able to descend on a location or two in a more impromptu fashion as the weekend develops. Neighborhoods and other relevant details within.

I'll be in Washington D.C. from December 26th to the 31st. I'm staying at the Omni Shoreham in Woodley Park. Please tell me about cheap vegetarian eats, good coffee shops and bars, and free wifi in my neighborhood and elsewhere.

We'll be in DC in the first week in August, and we're looking for restaurant suggestions. Good food and an interesting experience are our top criteria; cheap to moderately expensive is okay - but not interested in stuffy or super-expensive fine dining.
