Improving battery life for a Droid 3: energy management or rooting

I have a new-old Droid 3 (bought new, only started using it recently) and it's not holding a charge very long, even when I'm not actively doing anything with it (it can drop from 100% to 70% over night). I looked at its battery usage, and the bundled apps that I didn't want or use were using a lot of battery (YouTube was the worst, at 27%). Should I try some cellphone management apps (examples), get a new battery, root it to uninstall bundled apps I don't want or need, or root it to run a custom OS? [more inside]

ASKING FOR A FRIEND: She is trying to remember the name of an old picture book that was about an invisible dog. We think it was originally published in the 30s, then re-released in the 90s at Costco as part of a set of three picture books, one of which was about a lion. [more inside]

Currently have Dell Inspiron 1525 and similar -- needs to be much lighter than these. Can anyone help by giving some initial direction, including price range...links?

How do I sign myself out of Google (not Gmail) on other computers?

For nearly a year, I've been plagued by my Google searches periodically defaulting to the Swedish Google page (and all of my Google activity turning into Swedish language). I have clicked on "sign out of all other web sessions" in gmail lots and lots of times. I have recently worked out that this happens because I signed into Google on my girlfriend's mother's account last summer. How can I make this stop without involving my girlfriend's mother? Resume Objective Statement for someone looking to switch careers

This question isn't for myself so much as it is for someone I know very well who is looking for a job that will hopefully be a radical departure from her previous career. For the sake of argument, let's refer to her previous job as a position within what I will call the "bartgage industry" from here on forward. The challenge for her will be to frame her resume in such a way that effectively illustrates her prior experience while also emphasizing her desire never to work in the field of bartgage ever again (so help her God). Letting go of something on your bucket list?

What's a good way to 'give up' an item on your bucket list without feeling resentful? I don't mean giving up a life-long dream (like becoming a successful writer) or an impossible wish (like being an astronaut), I mean giving up something small like 'Before I die, I want to go to Paris for a few days' (my actual example is something else that's about the same level of effort as visiting Paris). Best housewarming gift for small apt living?

A friend recently downsized from a large house to a small apartment near the beach. That makes two adults and a dog living in a (700 sf? I can't be sure) home. What is a gift that I could give that wouldn't just be clutter, or better yet could improve their household? Obviously it should be small, and it has to be something the TSA won't confiscate because I will be flying across the U.S. to visit.

What movie am I thinking of?

Trying to remember the name of a movie I only saw a clip from about 22 years ago. It was a color film, definitely arthouse/independent -- possibly foreign. All I can remember is a piece of fruit (a pear?) playing an important symbolic role, and in the scene either the fruit (or perhaps it was a ball) was rolling incongruously across the floor of a nice manor room where elegant-looking people were sitting. Ring any bells?

Smokers and non-smokers living in the same apartment building?

I live in an apartment building where smoking is allowed in individual apartment units, just not in the hallways or common areas. I smoke a few cigarettes and have a glass of wine when I get home at night, and about 1/3 of the tenants in the building are also smokers who smoke in their apartments. It's just one of these low-cost, kind of dirty apartment buildings occupied mostly by college-age kids. Two days ago, a family with a newborn baby moved in above me.
