Do you have a base (or low) model recent Mac Mini? How does it work for general internet use, including streaming and itunes? I like to use Firefox and open a lot of tabs, and use a few script heavy sites like Amazon. Interested in your experience with THIS PARTICULAR SETUP (or maybe the higher model Minis). Does it work fine? Or does it choke? Thx!

My ability to get out of bed and get ready for work is inhibited by frequent dizzy spells. Almost every time I stand I have to sit again or lean against a wall until it passes, and sitting on my bed often turns into lying down/sleeping again. Dizzy spells happen at all times of day but less frequently and usually less severe. Looking for suggestions to reduce the frequency or severity of my morning episodes. [more inside]
My son is playing Exploration on the iPad (a sandbox game, like a basic minecraft clone where you just build things) and while he really enjoys it, it doesn't seem capable of saving his creations. Is there another recommended game that allows saving? [more inside]
I am in Tokyo for the next few days, and want to pick up some uniquely Japanese gifts for my boss & coworkers back in the US. Since they are generally hard to please (and they fancy themselves "connessieurs"), exotic/interesting booze tends to be the easiest thing for me to get for them when I need to get gifts for them. So my kids, like many kids, are (still) addicted to Frozen -- and really just want to play "Frozen" on Just Dance after seeing it at a bday party. As a gamer newbie, how do I get this set up? Buy an Xbox One and... how many versions of "Just Dance" are there? Is each version limited to only certain songs? Uh.. Kinect sold separately? What's the deal with Xbox 360 -- is that totally obsolete now? Can I put Xbox 360 games into an Xbox One and expect them to play? [more inside]
We're low on cash, but just so happen to have a couple bottles of high quality booze (these two things are not related...or are they? Don't judge!) What kinds of fantastic mixed drinks can we make over the next few weeks until we can buy beer again? [more inside]
The IMMI GO looks interesting, since it also looks semi-portable for travelling, but doesn't yet have IIHS ratings. The seat is only available through the website, so it has no user reviews on Amazon. Does anyone have personal experience with this seat? [more inside]

I have birds nesting in the fascia at the base of my house roof, about seven feet above my (asphalt shingle) porch roof, which has a moderate pitch. I have seen people nail a brace onto a roof to brace a ladder so that it can be leaned against the house. 1) Is this insanely dangerous or simply moderately dangerous? 2) Does this ruin the roof (I imagine it does), and how would I patch it? 3) Is there some other reason this is a horrible idea? The other day I did something to seriously fuck up my right shoulder, since then I've had to keep it immobilized in a sling on doctors orders. Moving it around hurts like hell and I can't do much beyond typing on a laptop (I can't even use my desktop because it requires me lifting my arm above stomach level). [more inside]
Helping a friend with a mixed media wedding bouquet and the only actual flower she wants is yarrow (yellow or white). We will be drying it - so buying fresh or already dried is OK. I plan to call around to a couple local florists, but was hoping for help finding an online source. Challenge being finding one that is based in Canada to not have to mess around with the import rules around plants. So far my searching has come up dry. Google-fu masters, I am at your mercy.
I have years and years of iPhone voice memos of my kids telling stories and singing songs, since they were toddlers. Or, should I say, I had them. Somehow, when I checked today, I had THREE. THREE! Where are the rest of my voice files with my then-two-year-old telling me ghost stories? My then-six-year-old singing original compositions? These files! They are irreplaceable! They are also, in theory, religiously backed up. [more inside]
I'm going up to Vancouver for the weekend soon and find myself with a bit of a clothing budget and a favorable exchange rate. I don't shop at the same stores as my woman friend up there due to differences in taste and size range, and my other woman friend there is off at a meditation retreat so I can't ask her. Given the preferences below the fold, where should I shop for clothes and shoes? [more inside]

A while ago I got hit by a car biking. The lady who hit me first covered property damage, like bike, helmet, jersey, etc., but the bike was below what the cost was to actually replace my bike. Even thought the bike had less than 300 miles they said it had wear and tear. I ended up getting about 60 percent of the original value that I payed a couple months before. The question I have is, can I also use my renters insurance to cover the bike cost? or can I only do my insurance or her insurance? Thanks
My 17 year old sister is pretty miserable living at home. She's about 3-4 years behind in school, suffers from severe anxiety, and only leaves the house to go to doctor appointments and therapy. My parents are at their wits end with her; they are spending more time yelling at her than working with her. My husband and I are strongly considering asking her to stay with us, but we could really use advice from anyone who has done this before. Is this a good idea? What do we need to know? What are not considering? [more inside]

I'm off to a stag do the weekend after next thus leaving my wife all alone with our small child. I'd like to arrange a relaxing weekend off for her this weekend (in advance of me going away). Some sort of hotel for the night, maybe a massage or something. The problem I'm finding is that all the spa break things in London require booking for 2 people. [more inside]
My brother and I can't remember this show, which was more like a short. We would have watched it on American TV from Canada in the late 70s or early 80s.There was a chimpanzee dressed in (I think) a plaid jacket as a newscaster. I don't know if it was something from Lancelot Link. I tried Googling, but either I get Lancelot Link or real chimps in the news. Does this show ring a bell? [more inside]
After my Grandma died recently, I went to her house and scanned every family photo she was in so everyone in the family could have a digital copy. There are a lot of people I can't identify in these pictures. I'm wondering if there's a way I could put the whole folder of them online in a password-protected or invite-only place that lets family members tag the pictures so anyone who knows who these people are can identify them. I don't want to put them online somewhere where just anyone could see them.

How exactly do you score this Reactions to Research Participation Questionnaire Revised (RRPQ-R) form? I see some hints on the last page, but what steps would a researcher take to turn a stack of completed forms into data the proper way? I could take a guess but I'm curious to know the actual method. Google is seemingly empty of the answer. I do not think I have access to the sources on the last page.
