When your good friend becomes close with an unfavorable friend

So, I have friends who run fitness programs and help many people. I introduced a "friend" who I met through work but distanced myself from her because she's racist. She says pretty shitty things about black people but once she knows what you're into, she panders. I don't trust her and don't feel emotionally safe. [more inside]

How to forget her... when I see her every day.

How can I forget the powerful romance that I had with someone who has left me... when I see her daily? It was the most passionate relationship in my life and lasted only five months. It was more powerful than my ten plus year marriage. How do I get over this? [more inside]

Can I get MS prescription filled before losing my insurance plan?

Hello all, I can't find this answer anywhere (without directly asking my insurance company). My wife has multiple sclerosis, and without insurance her medication costs $6k per month. On our current plan I play $30 for a 3 month supply via the specialty pharmacy home delivery. We are losing this coverage at the end of August, but have a delivery in progress and will receive the next 6 months worth before we lose coverage. Is there some way they can charge me for the medication already received if I lose coverage for the following months? [more inside]

Gaiman, Pratchett, and "Good Omens" - what do I read next?

I've never read any Neil Gaiman or Terry Pratchett, but am now in the middle of Good Omens and really enjoying it. An attempt years ago to get into the first of the Discworld series failed early (I'm generally a lukewarm fantasy fan at best), but for some reason, this hits the spot - what other titles from either of them should I try next?

Seeking quote on how adding boys to a task decreases amount of work done

Don't know who wrote it, though Mark Twain and Robert Heinlein came to mind. It's about boys working on a task, possibly in a frontier or rural setting. It goes something like: 1 boy is worth 1 boy, 2 boys are worth 1/2 a boy and 3 boys don't get any work done.

Which is safer in SE London? Shadwell, Stratford, NewCross/Lewisham?

Hello. I just got confirmation from my Uni that their accommodations are setting me up with a flat in Shadwell. It was my 3rd choice and 2 trains from my college. But just reading online, I didn't realize that Shadwell doesn't have a good reputation, has had some violent crime in recent months and has some... 'Extremist' possible group activities going on there. Therefore I was wondering if anyone has any feedback, insight or experiences w/ this and these neighborhoods in the SE London/Lewisham area who can let me know which may be better options? Here is a map link to my Flat/Dorm building. [more inside]

Is there a single generally accepted concept of per diem payments?

My definition, based on my admittedly limited experience, is that the per diem is paid as a lump sum, either up-front or after the fact, for [per diem amount * days worked] without regard to how much the recipient actually spends. What this company offers is reimbursement for actual expenses up to [per diem amount], with receipts required from the contractor/employee. [more inside]

Best way to encourage diversity in wildflower patch?

I have a patch of the front yard which, for the last few years, we've let "go wild" in the middle-- it started when a patch of daisies bloomed there and our kindhearted lawnmower-guy habitually avoided them-- now as you see it's home to California poppies, more daisies, some white and pale-pink yarrow, and of course dandelions. I'd love to add more colorful wildflowers-- what's the best way and time to plant or encourage this? [more inside]
