I'm newly car-free, and using my bicycle for all my transportation. I'm also taking violin lessons, and I've run into a problem: my violin case is too big and awkward to easily transport on my bike! I know the easy answer is "buy a smaller case" but until I can do that, does anyone have any suggestions for how to get to & from my violin lessons via bike? [more inside]

I have a bunch of funny/interesting/neat pictures that I've accumulated over time from the internet. Rather than storing them all locally on my harddrive, any way I can do that online for free? (This question could also be expanded to other filetypes, like word documents and music files, so if you have suggestions for that, please post them as well.)

Is there somewhere cheap & reliable in Canada (online or by mail) where I can send my prescription glasses and sunglasses frames to be relensed in my own prescription? I have purchased some funky/vintage frames online and would like to have my prescription put in them but the local optical shops are charging $200+ and I just can't afford that for each pair of glasses (I have just purchased several pairs). I see there are some US-based sites (that probably ship overseas which is OK) but none seem to be available in Canada. Bonus if you can give me a personal recommendation. Thanks!

How do I deal with the fear of a painful medical test that I'm having in two weeks? The pain will be intense but short in duration, under 5 minutes. It's a simple procedure, done in the doctor's office, and afterwards I'll be able to do my normal activities and probably won't have any lingering sensations or discomfort. And yet, I'm having trouble summoning up the courage to go through with this, to the point where I'm becoming paralyzed with the fear. I would appreciate suggestions or anecdotes about how you overcame medical fear to do something you knew you had to do. [more inside]
We have a rental property. We had a crazy storm. One of our trees lost a few limbs. It is a mess. The kind you can only clean up with a chain saw (which we don't own or need generally). Is the the landlord's responsibility or ours? I have already contacted our landlord, but haven't heard back yet.

While my pretty well maintained 2000 Passat wagon would probably pass an emissions test it can't because the computer (ECU) is failing. My local euro car mechanic and two different smog techs have had the same results: car doesn't communicate with OBD. They all suggest I take it to the VW dealer. [more inside]

Do to a family medical emergency, my wife and I are probably going to be renting a car and driving from Philadelphia to Toronto tomorrow night. We are both Canadians living in the US on temporary NAFTA visas. Fun complication: Our daughter is four months old and is an American citizen with an American birth certificate. We haven't yet gotten her a passport or applied for her Canadian citizenship. Should we expect to have any difficulty crossing the border with her, in either direction? Is there anything we can get in the next 24 hours to make things go more smoothly?

I'm staying in an Embassy Suites hotel in Chicago this week. Today, I returned to the hotel to see that on three of the lower floors, each room had a stack of exactly two identical chairs placed outside the door. This struck me as really odd. What does it mean? Is it some kind of code for housekeeping or management? Photo here for reference.

There's some game on the 360 that exists or was in development at some point in the past year that is a strategy game using hexagon shaped "towers" of land as a board. I think it was turnbased and used words (but not sure about the words part - but I think it involved a scrabble like setup) Somehow you would "stomp" the hexagon shaped towers and they would slowly lower until a certain point then they would fall making the play area smaller. Anybody know what I'm talking about?
