What's the temping market like in Philly?

I have some time between the end of my residency and my new job. I'm not really interested in going back to the world of coffee-slinging for a few months. How do I pronounce my last name?

How should I pronounce my last name? Supposedly, my last name is Danish. It's rare enough that every single person with this last name is somebody I know, except for when Google finds some weirdo evil versions of us in Denmark. I've always wondered how an actual Danish person would pronounce it, and if it differs significantly from how we pronounce it. [more inside]

acknowledging a colleague's loss...

A work colleague of mine lost her mother to cancer to one year ago tomorrow. I wanted to give her a card just letting her know that I am thinking of her and am aware that it must be a difficult day for her. Is it appropriate for me to do this? She has not been talking about the fact that the anniversary is tomorrow, I just happen to remember the date. If it is a good thing to do, what should I say on the card? Thanks for your help

How to buy a used TV

Advice on Used TV? Seeking a used, 19 or 20" TV, not digital or HD - I found a Symphonic wf203 on Craigslist, supposedly 4 years old for $50. My old TV is 18 years old , how long do these newer TV's last? A web site (retrevo.com) told me 4 years is too old to buy. Is that true? And I've never heard of Symphonic. $50 seems too much to me, but I don't really know. Any advice will be appreciated

Google search with exact phrase and multiple variables?

Is it possible to run a google search with an exact phrase and multiple variables? I'd like to see if a fixed search term (an exact phrase) returns any results when paired with a number of variables. I have approximately 200 variables and rather than run 200 seperate searches, would it be possible to run the search in one go? Something along the lines of "exact phrase" AND ( n1 OR n2 OR n3...). The variables will be exact phrases as well.
