Help me (with your math genius) to do the least amount of prep possible for this exam!

I have a list of 10 questions to help prepare for an exam. Of these 10 questions, 6 will be selected for the exam paper. Of the 6 on the exam paper I need to choose 3 to write an essay on. How many do I ACTUALLY need to research to be okay on the day? [more inside]

New hiking boots seem tight - will they stretch with use?

I've bought a pair of what I assume to be reasonably good hiking boots for a long trek/challenge I'm doing at the end of August - 100km in 36 hours or so, through the Australian bush north of Sydney (bush = forest, national park). Trying them out, eg. on a 12km walk at the weekend, they're quite tight across the toes. If I keep wearing them (generally around the place, and on longer walks) will they stretch over time, or should I buy a better fitting pair while I still have time to break them in? [more inside]

Fastest transition to another webhost?

My Yahoo small business account (webhosting) was closed because my autopay credit card expired. I called to try to reopen and was led to believe that my website would be put back up like old times once I signed up for another year of webhosting. This does not now seem to be the case and I am now going to cancel the order within the 30 day period. Who do you recommend as the best webhost provider for a very small service business? (HTML5 capability would be nice.) I need to get up and running with someone else asap before i miss more emails/potential clients. Also, should I use the new webhost provider for email or something like googleapps? Thank you for any advice.

Sexuality - who am I attracted to?

I'm currently questioning my sexuality. However I'm not sure who I'm sexually and romantically attracted to. All of the attraction that I've seemed to have has been to guys, but I'm not sure if it was sexual btw. I'm 19 years old if that helps. What is the most accurate indicator of sexual orientation / attraction? I'm not sure if I'm attracted to girls or not, thanks...

Help finding sci fi short story

I need help finding the title and author of a science fiction story. The basic plot goes like this: A guy finds a graffiti-covered box (looks like a telephone box or a power box) in the woods and realizes it is a puzzle. He opens layer after layer of the box to find harder puzzles that involve high math and even chemistry. He eventually is stymied and gives up. Turns out the box is an alien test to see if we are ready for first contact. [more inside]

Where can I sell a stamp collection without getting ripped off?

I have a large stamp collection that has postage stamps from around 1920 or so through the present (mostly 1920s through 1950s), mostly U.S. but some foreign as well. Most stamps came off mail and are in an album. Some have postmarks, some don't. I live in Boston and would like to take the collection in person to a dealer who won't rip me off, but I'm open to other alternatives too.

Scale of legal penalties and fines for different crimes

The whole BP oil spill (with few legal ramifications so far, although apparently there is a cap on the damages which BP would be required to pay) and the recurrent stories of copyright violations (with many outrageous fines to poor saps who got caught downloading movies and music) got me thinking: is anyone aware of a nice infographic of different fines issued / punitive damages awarded for different crimes? I am basically curious how it would look like for different countries, and if it could be used as a rough "how much we value what" scale. [more inside]
