Death by Pie?

Can-I-Eat-This-Filter, Thanksgiving edition. Assembled an apple pie tonight, planned to bake it tomorrow morning, but accidentally put the egg white wash on the top crust tonight. If I keep it in the fridge all night and bake it tomorrow morning, it won't kill anyone, right? The wash is just egg white thinned with a little water, and I didn't put very much on before realizing my mistake. Thoughts?

Should I steam or let this duck rest first?

Should I steam or let this duck rest first? For game birds, I've usually pricked the skin, quick-poached it, then let it sit uncovered overnight to crisp up the skin before I roast it. However, I've been using a new recipe for duck that calls for steaming it before you roast it (a wonderful recipe, btw). So the question is: should I let it sit overnight in the fridge before I steam it or after I steam it?

Driving around Detroit, MI

I have business in the Bloomfield Hills suburb of Detroit in a couple of weeks. Google Maps gives me two routes from the airport car rental to my destination with roughly the same travel time and a third that appears slightly longer. Which is best in terms of ease of navigation for a solo driving Detroit area newb, safe road conditions (especially if it snows), and likelihood that the travel time is accurate (i.e. not prone to massive unexpected delays)? How do I make an RSS feed for Bloomberg News?

I'd like to have an RSS feed for Bloomberg News, specifically for their environment reporting, that I can put into Google Reader. The problem is, Bloomberg News discontinued RSS feeds in 2006. None of the workarounds I've found are satisfactory: This one, for example, tries to use Google News, but it wouldn't really work for my purposes. (Using "environment" site:bloomberg.com as my search string wouldn't necessarily return all news items related to the environment -- a story just about renewable energy, for example, not its environmental benefits, wouldn't show up at all.) There's also Feedity, but they want you to pay to have feeds with any sort of functionality, which I'd rather not do if I don't have to. Page2RSS is closer to the mark, but the output is messy (multiple stories in the same feed item). Businessweek.com, which is owned by Bloomberg News, offers RSS feeds with Bloomberg News, but they don't allow for narrowing down on just the environment reporting. Is there a solution out there that's better? [more inside]

Corrupt NTFS filesystem, can't get into the repair console.

My parents computer isn't booting, and it's due to a corrupt ntfs filesystem. I'd like to run CHKDSK, but when I try to boot into the repair console, it requires an administrator password, which we don't have (second-hand computer). I can't use a password reset disk, because it won't recognize the disk (presumably due to the corrupt filesystem). Catch-22 - what now? [more inside]

Annoying phone calls

My husband is receiving annoying phone calls from his ex (a friend gave his number out without knowing any better). He does not want to change his cell number due to his numerous work contacts. When he sees her number he doesn't answer and then she leaves messages. He has told her to stop but she must be a mental case, she has been calling for 2 months. What would be a solution to this other than changing his number? If he had the number blocked we figure she will just call from another number.
