Artists living as if it were the Victorian era?

My google-fu is failing! Does anyone know of two male New York artists who live(d) as if it were still the Victorian era? They have nothing in their home older than 1870. There may have been an article on them in Art & Antiques Magazine, I've tried contacting the mag, but no response yet.

How nitpicky is the Post Office with regards to Media Mail?

How does the Post Office confirm that media mail is actually media mail? I'm shipping four boxes of books from Los Angeles to Arlington. Each box contains a hodgepodge of hardback and paperback books. To keep everything from getting jumbled up, I've included either a bunched-up towel or canvas bags as filler material. Will the Post Office hold or return my boxes if they find out? Has this ever happened to you or someone you know?

Three kids, two weeks, one car: Toronto to San Francisco vacation, or "if you like it so much then quit your job!"

Late-March roadtrip from Toronto to San Francisco, or wherever we end up by the time we have to head back. We've got two weeks, or sixteen days if we really need it. There's three of us. We currently have no plan and only vague notions of freedom on the road and driving into podunk towns to see giant balls of twine. As such, we have tons of logistics questions, which I will attempt to summarize: [more inside]

What adventure fiction is set in a nomadic culture?

What books and movies feature fantasy or adventure in a nomadic culture? I just watched the movie Mongol, and it really reminded me of how much I enjoyed the enjoyed the Daenerys chapters in the Song of Ice and Fire series. Looking for suggestions on how to sync documents between an iPhone and a laptop without an internet connection

Next week, I'm hitting the road with a laptop and an iPhone, but without any other means of internet access. I want to be able to create a formatted text document on my laptop, say for instance in Word, transfer it to my iPhone, and then use my iPhone to send it to my boss from the road. I don't want to have to rely on finding wireless. Does anyone know an app or non-Jailbreak workaround that'll let me sync documents using the iPhone's usb cord? It'd be great if there were a free solution to this, but I'd be ok with paying for a very cheap app that did it. I'm also hoping for something that's reliable! I know that's a bit of a tall order, but has anybody got suggestions?

Guns & Shopping Cart Video from the 80's

Around 1984-85, about the time that "19" and "World Destruction" came out, MTV put in strong rotation a similar themed song. The video showed two guys, one white, one black singing about the proliferation of weapons while dancing with shopping carts full of guns and ammo. What was the name of the song? Who were those guys?
