Who knows where to find bizarre headphones?

Today I saw a guy wearing what looked to be a pair of headphones that resembled a half-box on his head. Rather than curved plastic, the headphones met at 90 degree angles. Has anyone else seen these and/or know who manufactures them?

How should I react when people visually communicate disrespect for me?

I am looking for helpful strategies for dealing with disrespectful, nonverbal behaviors. I am talking about when people give someone behind you a look or when (teenagers especially) roll their eyes to a friend because they think you can't see them. Although these behaviors make me angry, if I think with my "wise mind" I know that I shouldn't humiliate them in return. I would like to come up with some graceful and dignified strategies that discourage these behaviors. When I ignore them, I leave the situation feeling that I have betrayed myself. [more inside]

Best Discreet Subway Camera?

DigitalCameraFilter: I am trying to find a small, discreet point-n-shoot camera that I can use on the subway to take pictures of my fellow-passengers (think Walker Evans - Many Are Called). Trying to find something that is: small (fits in pocket), quiet, sharp, can disable the rear lcd, and has minimal shutter lag. Good high-iso performance also a plus. Zoom not necessary. [more inside]

Always an Ordeal

My wife and I always joke about the preponderance of shitty luck we have and how if our family had a crest part of it would be the words "Always an Ordeal" written in Latin. Studies about marketing during a recession?

Tonight someone mentioned to me a study that boiled down to the idea that businesses that keep up with their marketing in a recession tend to bounce back better, or survive better. This makes sense to me, but he doesn't have a cite for study, and I'm curious. Does anyone have an idea of where this might have been, or any other study along those lines?
