What really long lists can I put my name on now to thank myself later?

Long Term Planning: I just submitted my name to the Packer season ticket waiting list, which is supposed to be 30 years long. I don't even live in Wisconsin, but life could take me anywhere in 30 years, and I like the feeling of knowing it might be an option one day. Are there any other lists or similar things I should do now? [more inside]

What to do with a Wal-mart gift card?

My daughter, for her fourth birthday, was given a $10 Wal-mart gift card by a girl with whom she goes to daycare. We have not shopped at Wal-mart for more than a decade and would like to keep it that way, and my daughter doesn't seem to care about spending the money. But I really don't want Wal-mart to end up with what would essentially be a $10 if the card isn't used. What should we do?

How do the chips on a memory module interrelate?

How is memory typically mapped to the different chips on a DIMM, and what are the typical timing characteristics, broadly speaking? For example, are bytes/words whose address is i mod 8 typically on chip i? In the case of reads, are results returned first from chip 0 (after the RAS and CAS latencies), then promptly on subsequent cycles from each of the next 7 (or 15) chips? How about from other DIMMs on the same motherboard?

How do I buy this parked domain?

I'd like to buy the domain name "myfirstnamemylastname.com" (but with my actual first and last names). Unfortunately it's parked with GoDaddy, full of ads, and shows up as already taken when I do a domain name search. Do I have to buy it from GoDaddy or the owner or what? Or should I not bother, and go for the .net instead? This is the first time I've wanted a domain name that wasn't actually being used for a real website before.

Name that American folk painter

This is driving me insane. What is the name of the 19th century American folk painter, called something like Franz Vogl, Kogl, Vogel, Fogel - something Austrian sounding - who drew very distinctive landscapes featuring buildings with mildly distorted perspectives and a lot of horizontal lines, usually titled below with calligraphic captions like "Miss Joanna Cunningham's House."
