Help me find this shy 20th-century British male writer

Two or so years ago, I read the beginning of a biography of a writer, probably a poet. I know he was a young man in England during World War I who was not able to serve in the war due to a medical condition. But that is all I am certain about -- I have vague memories of a few further details that I could easily be confusing with stories from other people's lives, or even from novels. [more inside]

Choosing a port to drink later. Way, way later.

We have a new baby, and would love to get a bottle of liquor to stick in the basement and hopefully remember where it is 21 years from now, in order to drink it with her to celebrate her 21st birthday. I think we want a port, but we have no idea what to look for when purchasing this, and the person at the liquor store was very unhelpful (but we are willing to go to another store if that is the answer). How to deal with not being my boyfriend's first?

My BF [26M] is my first. However, I'm [21F] not his. His first was with a good friend with whom he had a 5 year relationship, and still remains good friends with that ex today. They were both each other's first. Out of all the other ex's my BF's had, he only remains friends with this one. Interviewing family: what questions to ask on a recurring basis?

For the most part, what I've read pertains to one-time oral history projects. How describe the American arts system to Chinese arts officials?

I'm going to spend a day lecturing, to a large group of visiting Chinese art officials, about the nuts and bolts of the American arts system. Literally, from org charts to budgets to curating to education to publicity to fundraising to opening receptions. Yes, that's a vague, enormous topic that I need to narrow down. I'm comfortable with the material; it's the structure and the audience (I'll have a translator) that I'm concerned about. I'm thinking I'll spend the first half of the presentation discussing non-profits, the second half comparing nonprofits to private arts institutions. [more inside]
