How do I have a short-term dating relationship while on a break?

I'm sort of in a long-distance relationship that will continue to be long distance for the next three months. We have decided to open our relationship and take a break for the time being. I'm not the kind of guy that has really ever done flings or short-term dating or whatever, but it seems like that is something that maybe I should be doing now -- at least going on some dates and trying to have some fun. So, how do I do this? [more inside]

Maybe there's an annoying-neighbor-child version of deer repellant?

I live in the back corner of an apartment building that borders on the backyards of multiple house-neighbors on the perpendicular side street to mine. The people opposite me have elementary-age children and let them stay in the yard for hours with minimal/no supervision. The children's friends come to visit and they all get a kick out of wreaking tiny havoc directly on the other side of my apartment. I am at a loss for nipping this in the bud. Help! [more inside]

Digital camera advice? ISO simple/intuitive, plus a few other features.

I am semi-tech phobic, so am looking for an *extremely* simple digital camera for still photos. Like, think Fisher Price. On, off, focus, zoom, automatic option, click. Simplicity and an intuitive design are the most important qualities. No long instruction booklet. No tiny window or up and down arrows or similar interface that I have to navigate. More desired features after the jump. [more inside]

Advice for 10-year-old who wants to go home

We are taking care of our neice, who is 10 years old, on our family vacation. Her mom, a single parent, needed help this week so we offered. We knew neice had some separation anxiety, but we were assured that neice was much better and excited about the trip. Unfortunately, neice has been very unhappy at certain times and last night (our first full day here) she sobbed for an hour and begged to go home. [more inside]

Why are the ribs on my crocheted hat so slim?

I was trying to make this hat, but it turned out like this. The hat in the video has the ribs bunched together, and they only show up when stretched. On the hat I created, the ribs always stand out and look stretched. I used 100% acrylic double knitting wool and a 4mm OR a 6mm hook (can't remember which). What did I do wrong?

Using a China/HK iPhone 6 in US and UK/Europe?

I've been offered a spare iPhone 6 by a relative (my current US iPhone 4S on a AT&T phone is aging and not always working well) but this iPhone 6 was bought in Hong Kong and was used in China. Will I be able to transfer the iPhone 6 to my US Apple account (with all my iTunes/App Store content) OK? Thanks for your tips, MeFites!
