Answers for Traditional Interview Questions in an Untypical Economy

Is it possible to really have the classic Five/Ten Year Plan in this type of economy? And when you get asked that type of question in a job interview, how do you figure out what the question is behind the question? Just to make sure all bases are covered, the executive summary of my job hunting plan/rationale and background are inside. [more inside]

Aesthetic appeal vs. sexual attraction

I'm confused somewhat about my sexuality. It's an issue for me. Likely I'm gay and not straight. I'm wondering how can I tell apart aesthetic appeal from sexual attraction. Also, am I in denial to some point, because I'm constantly wondering over whether if I like women or not? That's why I'm wondering about the difference between aesthetic appeal and sexual attraction.

Does anyone remember the rest of a short poem by Ernst Wichert, in German?

does anyone remember - in german - the rest of a short poem by ernst wichert that begins "wir wissen wann kommt der taifun..."? as i recall, it was about how one can tell a storm is coming because their neighbors, even before the storm comes, are losing their heads, and the expression, "losing their heads" means the same in german as "losing their roofs." thanks.

AVP for Me?

Virus Protection at a discount? I use Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2010 (or internet security in past years) and it's usually $60. However this time of year it is only $10-$20. I currently have 189 days left on my current subscription. Can I buy another copy of Kaspersky 2010 now and install it in 190 days and get another year of service or do I have to buy a 2011 version next year?

You don't hear this one every day.

I'd like to add a kitten to the family. However, I have a toy fox terrier which makes this difficult. Every cat I've had in the past would eventually begin stalking the dog, pawing him on his hindquarters and biting his neck. The dog would cower 24/7 and I ultimately needed to keep them in separate areas of the house, at all times, to protect him. I've tried various methods to prevent this, but since the last time I've owned a cat was over five years ago I'm open to re-trying anything.

What is this flying bug? [links to pics inside].

What is this flying bug? [links to pics inside]. From the file name, you can see we speculate that it is a hornet. This is possible where we are - the Ashdown Forest area of Mid Sussex, England - but it could also be a large wasp. This is relevant to us as my friend's 11 year old has had an enormous allergic reaction to a bee sting on his forehead 2 days ago, and looks like a junior albino Na'vi right now. The beast was shoo-ed by me into the gap of our double glazing, where I took these pics an hour ago. Cheers! [more inside]

I have a lot of wild birds in our garden because I have five birdfeeders year round. The neighbor's cat likes staking out the birds and killing whatever he can catch. Is it safe to eat maggots/mealworms?

A friend gave me some freshly picked porcini (boletus) mushrooms. Some of the bigger ones which looked fine on the outside, were almost hollow and full of bugs inside. They were squiggly white worm-like, with black heads. Either maggots or mealworms. I don't have a problem eating insects, but was wondering if it's safe to eat this particular type of bug? Thanks.

What's wrong with my riding mower?

My Craftsman riding lawn mower was belching white smoke and barely crawling forward this evening, so the lawn did not get mowed. In examining it, the air filter looks nasty, and the belt I can get to without disassembling stuff feels very loose. That belt appears to drive the blades. It's an 8 year old mower with a B&S engine The belts are original, and the air filter might be too. I don't remember when I last changed it. I change the oil and sharpen the blades in the spring and the thing just runs. It had be running OK, but a little rough, prior to today. My question - it is likely a simple tune up and new belts fixes my symptoms? If odds are it is something more complicated I'd rather just get it fixed by a pro and be done with it. I can handle the simple tune up, but if it's likely to be in vain...

Where should two lazy, crazy kids honeymoon in Maui?

What part of Maui should we go to for a relaxed, romantic honeymoon? After a fair bit of research, we're thinking of renting a condo, probably on the West side, although even that's not firm. The question is which part of Maui? This thread has us leaning toward Napili or Kihei but since we've never been there before it all feels a bit like a shot in the dark, especially since condo rental sites like VRBO are so huge and confusing. How to get TV to show a color picture

We bought an used Insignia TV and hooked it up to our comcast cable box. Unfortunately, we can get a picture but it is only in black and white. I've taken the cables in the back and moved them around and the only result I can get is in one of the inputs there is a small amount of color that shows on the screen that correlates to sound vibrations. I've used the remote to turn up the color and it has no effect. What can I do to fix this?
