Something like malm

I am looking for a dresser with drawers that don't stick and are nice and deep so they hold a lot of clothing. Ideally I'd like a 3-drawer Malm dresser from Ikea, but the closest one is 3 hours away and they don't deliver the Malm. Any other substitutes? [more inside]

I don't litter at your house.

Every week (sometimes twice) I get a bag of ads on my doorstep - some mattress place, Lowes, SmartSource. It's litter. It's wasteful. I'm sick of picking it up all the time. Help me set a fair commission for qualified lead gen in advertising

I run a small media company with a staff of five (two people on sales, two editors, one social media person). The salespeople have a low salary, high commission salary structure, and advertising deals are generally in the low-mid 5 figure range. Our social media person is interested in getting into sales, or more specifically, getting compensated for introductions that eventually turn into sales. We're happy to accommodate her but have no idea how to structure things. [more inside]

academic library access for the independent academic?

I live in the West Midlands, home to a few good university libraries. Unfortunately, none of these libraries offer memberships to community members. My own alma mater, Birmingham City University, does not have an alumni library membership. It's very annoying. I would really like access to SagePub and T&F for journal articles. Can you recommend a university or college in the UK, Europe, or anywhere that offers remote access to their library's databases and where I could buy an annual membership?

Midwest US to UK beer arbitrage

My wife wants to bring an American craft beer to a former colleague who is primarily a real ale drinker in the UK. He is pretty game to try anything (and is more of a hophead than I am) and we would like to get him something he can't get there and that is a bit different (so no American Belgians for instance) but also worth the hassle. What should we get? We are in Chicago and probably have to get it from Binnys.

How to deal with a landlady who wants to keep an entire security deposit

On June 1, I gave month’s notice for an apartment I’ve been living in for ten years (I’m in California). I had a month-to-month lease and was never late with rent. Until now, I’ve had a cordial relationship with my landlady. When I gave her my notice, she called and said that she was going to keep my entire security deposit ($950). This came out of the blue. She claims it was for two things. A few months back, she replaced my stovetop. There was nothing wrong with it and I hadn’t asked her to replace it. [more inside]

What is this bolt that fell off the bottom of my '99 Honda Civic?

Driving home from work, my '99 Honda Civic suddenly got louder and, in addition, stared making a tinkling noise. I parked to look underneath and saw that there was a bolt dangling from the middle of the car. It's about 9 inches long, still has a nut on it, and was attached at the other end to a rubbery, possibly oval-shaped gasket sort of thing.
