Mortgage underwriting question.

I am buying a house for the very first time (Virginia, US), and I have a question about the mortgage underwriting process. We have made it through the home inspection, and we are conditionally approved for the mortgage. We are currently waiting for the results of the mortgage appraisal and then, my loan officer tells me, that the mortgage will be resubmitted to the underwriter. I'm not sure exactly what this means. Separating OS and Apps and Files on a Macbook Pro with 2 Drives

I am planning on using an OWC Data Doubler to replace the optical drive in my mid-2012 13" Macbook Pro with a 120GB SSD. My plan is to use the SSD for the OS and applications and then use the HDD for files. I have a Time Machine backup and a Super Duper clone of my HDD. However, I some questions about the easiest way to reformat the drives after the installation is complete. [more inside]

Book for sudden end to a marriage

Asking for a friend: I was approached by a friend today who was looking for a book to recommend to a friend of her's. The friend of a friend is going through a sudden and bewildering end to a marriage (her husband of many years packed his clothes while she was at the store and left). Obviously, she is in tremendous shock and plans to seek help from a counselor, but I'm wondering if anyone can recommend any books for her in the meantime. [more inside]

Why does my Macbook think it is in Alaska?

I just noticed that the clock on my Macbook Pro (running 10.9) is wrong, and when I went into Settings to see what is going on, I realized in the automatic time zone setting that my Macbook thinks it is in Alaska. Also, when I look up my computer in Find My iPhone, it too shows it being in Alaska. I am in Virginia. I have never been to Alaska. What is going on?

Needing recommendation for premarital counseling

Do I have mild Agoraphobia?

I always thought that, when it comes to phobias, I won the genetic lottery, because I don't have any. I am not afraid of public speaking, flying, heights, clowns, snakes, spiders, etc. I'm not even claustrophobic, despite my mother and brother being terribly so. However, I've recently found myself wondering if perhaps I have a mild fear of wide open spaces. [more inside]

Can I swap MacBook Pro hard drives?

Today, I purchased a new 13" MacBook Pro, model MD101LL/A, which I believe is a June 2012 model. I have an existing, working 13" MacBook Pro from early 2011. Can I just pull the hard drive out of the old one and stick it in the new one, or should I restore from a backup? Also, what are the odds the memory in the old one will work in the new one? Both are Core i5. [more inside]

How much will this repair be?

I have a 13-inch, early 2011 Macbook Pro (unibody) that fell out of my backpack and onto a sidewalk. It was in a neoprene sleeve, which helped, but the aluminum screen cover (the part with the white Apple logo on it) is rather dented. The laptop works fine, and there are no cracks on the screen at all. However, I am interested in getting this part replaced, and I have some questions about cost. [more inside]

Help my get all my stuff to sync properly.

I recently bought a new Macbook Pro (2.3 i5) and almost immediately put 8GB 1333Mhz DDR3 RAM in it. Almost immediately, I got a kernel panic, and then Chrome would crash every once in a while.
