NiMH Battery Chargers that work

I have a good mix of AAA, AA, C, D & 9V rechargeable batteries. Are the mindblowingly-expensive Powerex chargers the only game in town for getting a decent charge, or are there other options? [more inside]

Band guest list etiquette?

We're going to a gig tonight that is massively sold out … and we're on the guest list. Are guest lists completely at the whim of the venue, or are there general guidelines that apply to most venues? We want to enjoy the show, but don't want to be “that guy” who ruins it for those nearby. [more inside]

Budget clarinet repair near Toronto

We found ms scruss' clarinet in a recent house clearout, and we'd like to get it playable again. It's probably not worth too much, and we're on a budget anyway. Suggestions for what to do with it are welcomed. [more inside]

Which home NAS with online backup for 2013?

I have a mess of ad-hoc backup systems, none of which “just work”. I would like to have a NAS that quietly backs up the cross-platform content I have, and also mirrors it online securely. I should probably budget for about 1-2 TB. I have no problem doing geeky setup stuff, but the less routine stuff I have to remember, the better. System details follow. [more inside]

the grungy "dun dun da dunna dun da dunna da da ... yeah" song from the 90s

Song. Early to mid 1990s. On the UK radio all the time, especially Atlantic 252. Vaguely grunge sounding, with a "dun dun da dunna dun da dunna da da" guitar riff, followed by a pause, then a quiet/bored sounding "yeah". What was it?

We need to argue for a local server

Our office is losing hours of productivity a week due to networking decisions from head office. We'd like to price out a server to replace the dodgy technology that's been foisted on us. And now, some music on the Light Programme ...

Trying to track down a piece of mid-20th century music. It's got a whimsical "Auntie Beeb" feel to it, a meandering woodwind (clarinet) theme and unexpected woodblock or claves usage. Last time I heard it, the piece was being used ironically. Whether the piece was actually used in 1950s BBC broadcasts, I don't know, but I'd love to get its name.
