We have a pug who we adopted a couple of years ago. Upon our first visit to the vet, we were informed she had luxating patella, and that it might one day require surgery, but only if it got worse. Well, it seems to be worse lately - has anyone experienced this, and is there any alternative treatment?

My grandmother is in her 80s, but loves romance books, especially Danielle Steel. She's gotten several of the Harlequin Intrigue, etc series, but says that there's too much sex in them. She prefers the Danielle Steel books because of the plot (I think?). Can you suggest any other authors/books?

So the local steampunk group is having a fairy tale steampunk event this fall, and I'm super excited. I used to read all the color title fairy tale books when I was younger, but it's been a while. What fairy tales would you recommend for me to read, for costume inspiration?

I work with someone (technically an assistant, but in reality does work for multiple people in the office, with most of their consistent work coming from me), and need to have a conversation regarding accuracy, timeliness, etc with them. Any suggestions or links to resources for the best way to approach this so they don't get defensive?

iPad 2 apps for 86yo grandmother? It's her birthday, and my dad got her an iPad 2 - what apps/set up would you suggest?
She uses her computer primarily for email, but doesn't get back to the room it is in often anymore. My dad has already set up her email and downloaded a book for her - what apps would you suggest? We're hoping she can easily learn to use it, and it will help alleviate her boredom.
She does not use Facebook, or any social networking.

I'm trying to plan a trip to Fairbanks, Alaska next March in the hopes of seeing the northern lights. I'd be happy for any tips you might have in general for trips to alaska/northern lights viewing. However, my first concern (as I do more research) is clothing - I'm in Georgia, and doubt I have anything that is suitable for March in Fairbanks. (-20 to 50 degrees?)

IP Cameras or security system?
So, in a follow up to this
question, we've moved into another house, also without a security system. (Much better neighborhood, and a watchful older neighbor across the street, however) The landlord is fine with us having a security system installed. However, my dad has an IP camera installed in his house, which takes photos of movement (also can track sound) and emails them to him.
Which do you recommend - ip cameras or security system? Any suggestions for either?
