A month or two ago I saw a video someone had made of an exchange they had with a customer at work. The video had two cutesy CGI dog-like animals talking with very basic gestures and motions. It googled the watermark in the corner of the video and it took me to the site the guy had used to create the video. The name was four letters long but it wasn't a real word. There were multiple themes or scenes you could select, enter dialog, etc. Most of the themes were very cutesy- animals, flowers, etc. The speech seemed to be rendered by some typical voice-to-text software as it was very flat with no inflection. Overall it was a pretty easy to use website.

I'm looking for a recipe organiser where I can write my own recipes and clip recipes from the web. I can google with the best of them, and I can see there are lots of sites that can potentially do what I need, but I don't want to create a gazillion accounts for testing, so please give me your tried and true recommendations. Is there a community web site for sewers that is comparable to what Ravelry is for knitters? This means, in case you're not familiar with Ravelry, that I can use it to document my sewing projects, look at other people's sewing projects, search for patterns (or pattern reviews), and share information with other sewers in the forums.

I just want to put a draft website up for a client for a few days. I have created it locally in a few directories and I want to put it somewhere, preferably for free or a few quid and without signing some year-long contract. I just want to FTP my files in and have done with it. Just HTML and CSS for now. It can expire in a month and can have whatever weird URL it wants. What's the best suggestion?

I'm looking for a website I found years ago that combined prose and pictures to create a series of puzzles, but I do not remember what it was called. The notable thing about it was that it had 12 puzzles, and they are dispensed to you weekly, with a story and master puzzle arcing across all twelve, leaving you with a 3 month interactive experience. Does this ring any bells?

Hello, brightminded and helpful mefi's.
I have an idea for (IMO) an awesome new website that I believe will be huge. Is it still feasible in this day and age for a person to buy a stack of books and learn the coding skills needed for a website with very robust features, to say the least? Or will I have to acquire the funding to hire the people to do this? Funding is non-existent at the point in time.

Does anyone remember a list of logins and passwords, for a myriad of sites, published online for all the world to use? Its advertised purpose was to allow one to use a website without having to register for access... so you didn't have to go through all the steps, nor receive spam in your inbox later... I think it's been several years since I've even thought of this -- also, I feel it had some form of 'gator' or other reptile in its name.

What was that "please invent this" website I saw a few months ago? Yeah, that's basically the premise; people would just submit ideas for software or physical products. As I recall, the postings were listed in a grid format, and the layout of the page was quite elegant (simple, clean elegant, not baroque elegant).
What was that site?

I seem to recall a site run by some guy that noted pundits' and analysts' forecasts. If an analyst said Vista was going to flop, this was the type of site to record that. I think I saw this site mentioned a couple years ago on daring fireball, or perhaps waxy. It definitely had the "claim chowder" vibe.
