Mostly loving these ridiculous new AirPods, but as many have noted they are slippery as can be. I don't necessarily mean even in your ears, as much as just pulling them out of the case. I know that at some point there will be "skins" to cover them, but the tight tolerance of them fitting in the case, plus the holes for all of the sensors, will make these solutions difficult. What I'm looking for is a solution to add some "grippy points" strategically to the earpieces themselves. [more inside]
I want to be able to record moving images that are playing on my iPhone screen. Is there an app that will do this? It doesn't need to record audio, just video.
My phone is an iPhone 6. Through work I have access to an unlocked iPhone 6S Plus. I would like to try using the iPhone 6S Plus as my everyday phone to see if the form factor works for me. Can I just move the sim from the 6 into the 6S Plus and start making calls, or do I need to involve my carrier (Verizon)? [more inside]
I didn't ask it to, but my iPhone lately keeps trying to download more music to its library. Any clues? [more inside]
I work for the government and have a BlackBerry for work. I'm eligible for an upgrade and can choose between the BlackBerry Classic and the iPhone 6. My personal phone is an iPhone and I prefer them... but will I be shooting myself in the foot? [more inside]
I have one bad ear and one good ear. Would there be any way to wear one hearing aid and one earbud and have my phone push audio to both of them at once? [more inside]
My iphone 6 headphone jack has got intermittent audio weirdness regardless of different known good headphones plugged into it. I can try to get it fixed, or I can get me some Bluetooth earbuds, which I otherwise don't need. But there are hardly any Bluetooth earbuds that are * NOT * in-ear - which I would need. [more inside]
Things got a little heated, iPhone was a casualty. Was thrown intentionally and smashed terribly, beyond any state of repair. Can I tell this to insurance? Am I looking at paying full retail?
I would like to record multiple instances of an event on my iPhone. This event happens several times a day, at more-or-less random times. I would like to be able to do something very simple (like touch an icon on my phone screen) to note that "this happened now" and then to go back over time and see each occasion (with date and time info) when the event happened. [more inside]
I need to manage my iPhone files, as I recently ran out of space when trying to take some more photos. I have all my photos backed up, but iTunes on my Windows laptop doesn't (appear) to help me, as I can only manage audio, podcasts and video, and deleting photos on my iPhone is time consuming. Bonus points: all-around photo managing/ tagging software that can also manage iPhone photos. [more inside]
When I got my iPhone, it came with a Lightning charger cable that went almost a year before I had to hold it at a certain angle in order to keep my iPhone charging. I have bought various replacements on eBay that appeared to be genuine, but got the same problem MUCH quicker with these. Is there anywhere I can get an actual genuine cable that will last, without paying a fortune? [more inside]

I was noting to a friend the other day that iTunes sucked. Something must have heard me and decided to take revenge, because my entire music library just disappeared in a puff of smoke (not literally, but damn near). Halp! [more inside]
[iPhone filter] I have designated a few contacts in my iPhone as ICE. The problem is, any text message or phone call from any of these numbers shows up as "ICE," not their primary name. [more inside]
Vacationing in Mexico. Kid BlahLaLa has misplaced his phone. When I go to Apple's "Find My Phone" I'm not even seeing his phone on the list of our devices. Halp? [more inside]
I have years and years of iPhone voice memos of my kids telling stories and singing songs, since they were toddlers. Or, should I say, I had them. Somehow, when I checked today, I had THREE. THREE! Where are the rest of my voice files with my then-two-year-old telling me ghost stories? My then-six-year-old singing original compositions? These files! They are irreplaceable! They are also, in theory, religiously backed up. [more inside]
I'm looking for an app, or some other method, to take a daily picture of the same area of our yard on my iPhone to eventually turn into a video. The goal is to look at a video of how the yard changes on a daily basis over an extended period of time. [more inside]
My wife has an iPhone 6 running 8.1.1 When she receives a hangout request, her phone will do one small vibrate and show a banner, but it will not ring. If she's not paying attention, she doesn't realize she's being called. [more inside]
Why does my iPhone require carrier-based voicemail service? Why can't it handle voicemail entirely on the phone itself? [more inside]
My iPhone makes very quiet outgoing calls, but only on phone calls, not FaceTime Audio, for example. Anything I can do? [more inside]
Are there any reputable sources from whom I can purchase a Mexico City SIM card while I am still in the USA? [more inside]
Caller ID on landlines typically shows the name of the person or business calling. Caller ID on cell phones only shows the name if you have it in your cell phone contact list. Otherwise it just shows the number. Why the difference? [more inside]
I have a habit of muting my phone, dumping it into my bag, and forgetting that the phone has been silenced. I also spend a lot of time at the computer or using a tablet, so if I could just have the phone send me email, I'd know I had a call. I have an iPhone 6 with service from Verizon. [more inside]
I like to listen to albums and playlists from my music collection on my iPhone. I don't need a streaming service, or radio, or recommendations, or social networks. I just want a simple user interface that lets me pick out an album (or maybe a playlist) and listen to it. Does such a thing exist for iOS? The built-in music app has gotten way too complicated, and does not work well for me or my family. [more inside]
I've been doing a lot of hands-on failure analysis and inspection for my work, and I need a good way to dictate inspection notes using my iphone. You know in TV when the coroner describes the autopsy as he's doing it? Like that. I'd really prefer it to be an iOS app, but some kind of laptop app would be vaguely acceptable. Specific Required features inside. [more inside]
I just started a telecommuting job, and will be using my cell phone as my office phone. I would love to find a plug-in handset to use, since I'll be having lots of phone meetings. I've tried a couple options, but both distort the way I sound and won't do for a professional use. Has anyone found something that works? Specifics inside. [more inside]
I do a lot of interviews by phone. I want to connect my phone (an iPhone 6) to my digital recorder (the amazing little Sony ICD-UX533) so that I'm recording both sides of the conversation. Sounds easy enough, right? Not so fast. [more inside]
How can my ex-wife and I share our Google calendars with each other in iOS so they're available on our iPhones, but without having access to each other's email? [more inside]
I'm sick of my ringtones, and would like a new one. Ideally free, but pay is OK, too. I have an iPhone, and specifically I'd like Olivia Pope's ringtone. Googling this is a big ole mess, and the App store is no better. Every webpage and app look like they are designed specifically to brick the phone. Halp.
I have tried and failed to get Evernote working on my iMac or other Apple devices, so I am looking for a substitute. [more inside]

Should I upgrade my iPhone 5 to the new 6S, or an as-yet-unidentified Android phone? Biggest priority: SMALL size with best specs possible. [more inside]
Verizon have simplified/Europeanized their plans such that you can just buy the phone outright upfront and pay for service month-to-month (I think!). Given that, if I were to buy a new Verizon iPhone next week, I would own a GSM+CDMA phone outright and not have a long-term contract with Verizon. In the future, could I then put a US (not overseas) SIM card in that phone and have it work? Or would I still need to pay a ransom to get the phone unlocked to use it on, e.g. T-mobile or AT&T? [more inside]
There's this vine I saw a few weeks ago. By way of summary: [more inside]
Looking for a digital camera recommendation. Something small and compact to take biking and hiking that is able to take action shots. [more inside]
I need a grocery app that my husband and I can both add to/sync lists for iOS (web interface nice but not mandatory). We've been using Buy Me a Pie, but it's gotten glitchy for us and won't let me add him to lists. I've seen this post, and will check out the other recs, but it's a year old, which is forever in app development time. Possible complication: spouse beta tests new iOS versions on his phone for work reasons.
I'm looking for an iPhone app that displays whether or not an Internet connexion is on, as can be found on a PC. I use wifi at home & work and my carrier's 3G on the road but sometimes, although the phone connects to the router and the wifi signal is there, there is no internet. Short of looking at the router itself, is there any app that can give you the actual Internet access icon directly on the phone?
Recommend some games I can download to my iPhone 6 that can be played on the subway with no cell phone connection. [more inside]
Apple Maps and the Google Maps app will give me directions. Apple Maps and the Google Maps app will give me restaurant reviews. With either of these apps, is there any way to combine these functions-- as in, "Google, get me to Piccadilly Circus and tell me the highest-rated restaurant along the way?" Or "Get me to Piccadilly Circus and route me past a good French restaurant?" If not, is there any app that will do this? [more inside]

I have decided to acquire a new iPhone. However, I've been playing Neko Atsume, and have gotten pretty far along in collecting cats and cat-related objects. Is there a way to back up my game progress so I can pick up on the new phone where I left off instead of having to start all over? [more inside]
I’m mostly only interested in tweets with links. I’m looking for both an iPhone app and a web interface (or, as a fallback, a Windows app) that will just show me that. [more inside]
I've been offered a spare iPhone 6 by a relative (my current US iPhone 4S on a AT&T phone is aging and not always working well) but this iPhone 6 was bought in Hong Kong and was used in China. Is it possible for me to use it on a US carrier plan without too much extra trouble/expense? What about in the UK and elsewhere in Europe ? Will I be able to transfer the iPhone 6 to my US Apple account (with all my iTunes/App Store content) OK? Thanks for your tips, MeFites!
So, I have a standard Notes app on my iPhone and iPad. Lots of problems lately with reading/deleting mail on both, particularly with Yahoo!, so I deleted my Yahoo! and Gmail accounts and downloaded the particular apps for each instead. Then I made a note in the Notes app and to my dismay saw that most of my notes had disappeared. I googled this and learned that the Notes app may have assigned my notes to the email accounts I deleted (why?) but searching those online email accounts has only uncovered some, not all, my missing notes. iCloud doesn't have them either. Are they gone forever, hive mind? Can you think of something I've missed?
