How to make Thunderbird mark all new messages as read?

I recently started reading all my email on my smartphone. I still want to download every message in Thunderbird on my Mac (to archive it), but I don't want to manually mark everything as read after downloading it. Is there a way to either disable the "unread" flag, or auto-mark all new messages as read when they are received? [more inside]

.... But I don't want to share by email....

My Nexus 4 phone (running Android 4.4) has started insisting that when I want to share a page via Chrome, I HAVE to do it via email. I've tried resetting defaults in Chrome and email, and uninstalling the updates, but it still keeps insisting if I want to share, I have to do it via email - whereas before, it'd allow me to decide which service to share to. Any idea what else I can do ?!

I need a link that articulates email spoofing

I have a aunt-in-law who has been forwarding me junk emails she has received from a random email address with my name as the title. I've tried to explain to her that this is likely a junk from her computer's infection, not mine. Can someone send me a link that explains how that works in a simple way for someone of her limited understanding?

Where can I get announcements of iOS jailbreaks?

I am interested in being alerted if and when jailbreaks to iOS 6.1.3/4 and iOS 7 are released, but I have no interest in the daily news about jailbreaks on the legitimate sites like iphonehacks.com or developers' twitter accounts. Help Me Change My Outlook on Outlook

If my work email inbox changes, even slightly, my anger meter goes immediately to 10, and I spend entirely too much time being grumpy and fussing about it. Ransomware and a compromised email password

My Dad received a spam email purporting to be from his email provider (BT Yahoo, fwiw) asking him to verify his account. In a moment of utter stupidity, I fell for the scam and entered his email password into a bogus website (I know, I know: STUPID). I was using his iPad at the time, and a ransomware website opened in safari, however the browser didn't lock, and I was able to close it straight away. I immediately logged into his email account and successfully changed his password to something completely different. Google tells me that there is currently no ransomware which can successfully hijack Apple devices, which my experience seems to bear out. I am a bit worried about the risk that I've accidentally compromised his email, though. Is there anything else I should do beyond what I've already done, ie changing the password? Should I contact BT Yahoo about it?

Should I hit reply-all when I'm incorrectly blamed for something?

Adam, a member of a team I manage, sent an email incorrect blaming me for work they couldn't complete. I'm a big fan of dealing with things one-on-one, but I'm not sure how to respond when now that other people have been brought into it. When I send a reply referencing my previously emailed instructions, should I reply-all and let everyone know this isn't my fault, or should I just hit reply and not worry about everyone else? How should I respond to confusion about a meeting time?

Early last week, I had a meeting where there were two people from my organization, and three people from an organization we're hoping to work with in the near future. At the end of the meeting, we agreed on a future date/time for our next meeting. The following day, I emailed everyone in attendance, with (our shared impression of) the date/time/location of our next email in the second sentence of the email. Today, it became clear that everyone on their side of the meeting thought it was supposed to happen today, and I thought it was happening tomorrow. How should I respond? [more inside]

How to stop spammers when they have your info

A few weeks ago I got some phone calls and emails about a quote I submitted online for moving to some small town in central California. The only problem is I never filled out that form. Since they had my yahoo email, I figured they might have hacked my yahoo account somehow and got my phone number from there. I changed my password and removed my phone number from the account but it was too late. Today I got emails and phone calls about auto insurance quotes. The emails I can ignore and once I answer the phone and explain the situation, the agents remove me from their list but I don't know if I want to put up with this every few weeks. Has this ever happened to anyone else? and do I have any other recourse than changing my phone number?
