I have a batch of mixed-format data including long-form text fields, hyperlinks, number and plain text in an Excel doc. I have assembled a Word catalog merge file intended to allow me to proof the data manually. There are 42 records.
On merge, the output document results in what appears to be the correct number of pages and records. However, records 28-42 do not appear to place any data in the destination document.

I have roughly 20 people who each need a project. I have 27 projects and don't want anyone to share a project. I let the people pick their top five projects and rank them so I know who wants what. What is the best (easiest...) way for me to fairly figure out who should get what project so that the most people get their top choice, or at least one of their top choices?

[Excel 2007 filter] Is it possible to input some text into a cell, e.g. "Click here for Worksheet 2" or similar, and create a hyperlink on that cell to open, uh, Worksheet 2? In the same window, not a new instance. Neither a search of AskMe and/or the Excel help-screens has been successful. Thanks in advance.

In Excel, I have two columns. Column A has many rows of names (e.g., Mary, Maryjane, Maryanne, Anne, Jane) and in Column B I have their ages (e.g., 4, 20, 40, 10). I would like to find the MEDIAN age of all the "mary's"; i.e., both "mary" and "maryanne", etc.
Is this possible? I have been getting errors on variations of {=MEDIAN(IF(A1:A4="*mary*",B1:B4))} constructions...
I do not want to use VBA.
thank you!

Asking for a colleague:
"Back in October 2008, I found a free online app that uploaded data from Excel and produced (very pretty) charts and graphs. Unfortunately, I didn’t keep track of the website, and I’m having trouble tracking it down again. Most of the free graphing apps I’ve found online today require that you manually input the data; I’m looking for something that will more easily upload a set of data from Excel."

Is there a way to edit this macro so that it will do the same sort on any selected group of cells on any worksheet?

I have a formula for inputting into my expense sheet but it doesn't populate the field like it should. I stole the formula from my time sheet, and that does populat the column for the 4 weeks after I manually put in date 1.
It is:
=IF($B$4=0,"",SUM(B4+1))
So...why does it work in one sheet but not the next?
