In the past, I've seen that sometimes English is interspersed with another language on certain websites. This site, however, has English titles to their posts, but most everything else is in Dutch. Why? [more inside]

I'm wondering if Patreon is suitable for writers. If it is, what are some technical best practices to maximize engagement (and not fail miserably)? Or maybe there is a better platform than Patreon. Either way, besides creating good content in the first place, how can a writer "optimize" Patreon? [more inside]

I love reading about tech innovations and businesses in areas like energy, materials, farming, transport, construction etc. but the main tech blogs and websites are overwhelmed by IT--consumer electronics, software, apps etc.--which leaves me cold. Any tips much appreciated!
A few friends have asked about buying these two paintings. They're are a bit precious to me because, not counting a still life of balls and cones They made me do, they're my first two paintings. I thought maybe I could print these on canvas and give copies. How? I just started painting so I don't know anything and googling is just confusing me. Talk to me like I know nothing. [more inside]
My mom is coming down from Boston to NYC for Thanksgiving. Her current plan is to cook the turkey, wrap it in aluminum foil, put it in a polystyrene cooler and then drive it down to NYC on Thursday. This is setting off my warning bells about food safety. [more inside]

There are a million of these questions, but none with my particular set of preferences, so here goes. I'm looking for great sci-fi/supernatural TV shows (e.g. Star Trek/Buffy), weird comedies, or violent dude soap operas (e.g. Sons of Anarchy). Many more details within! [more inside]
One of my cats has either sprayed or sneezed something on my wall... Is there a product or test that might determine whether the 'something' is blood? [more inside]
We bought some lovely new radiator covers. But they took a little longer than expected, and there was a cold snap as soon as they were delivered, so the radiators have been on and the windows have been closed...and the air stinks of hot paint. Short of leaving the windows open (and freezing) or leaving the radiator covers outside for a while, any tips for counteracting the paint smell?
Finally able to describe what I do in a way; now I need to sell it. What person do I hire in order to create a message that makes sense to people who hire people with weird yet valuable talent? [more inside]

I'm looking for a copy of Wittgenstein's Philosophical Investigations that isn't in the en face format (German on one page, English translation on the other). I had a straight Anscombe translation in college but have since lost it. Any ideas? Everything I've seen on Amazon is the en face. Thanks for your help!
We have a storage tank water heater from the mid-90s, meaning that it could go at any time. I'd like to have a plan in place for when it does. I've read a little about tankless water heating and it sounds great environmentally, but maybe not so great on the wallet (at least initially). I've got some questions for those better-educated on subject than I. [more inside]

Are there any books, magazines, or websites that might help the design-challenged pick colors during a complete kitchen remodel or new house construction? We'd like to be able to flip through pictures of various home interiors - most importantly the kitchen but also other rooms - to help us decide on the colors of our cabinets and floors. Google images hasn't been terribly useful.

Recently, I searched for hours online for a brag book for my grandmother as a gift. I found one that fit the bill, but stupidly did not save the page. It was leather, textured/snakeskin-like cover, a 4x6, with about 10-20 leaves, high quality - about $60 or so, and also able to be monogrammed. I cannot, for the life of me, find another that meets these specifications. It's hard to find books this small that are high quality. Can anyone help? I don't need that exact one (though that would be awesome), just a few companies that make things like this.

I'm trying to buy a copy of a famous Russian geometry textbook, Kiselev's Geometry (link to a recent English translation), in the original Russian. Any copy of any edition will do; in fact, a used copy would be mildly preferred. However, I speak no Russian whatsoever, so I'm having difficulty figuring out how to go about this, partly because I don't even know what to search for on a Russian-language site! How can I complete my task? [more inside]
Stepson now lives in Massachusetts. He needs Obamacare, but has an aversion to the phone and has not figured out the website. Is there a physical office in Boston (ideally near Cambridge) where a live human could help him sign up?

Looking for a place where I can donate a wedding dress in NYC. Worn once (natch), was cleaned after use and has been safely kept in plastic ever since. Designer is Alvina Valenta. Size is probably a 10, 12, or 14. Also has a veil. Purchased at Kleinfeld's; total cost was probably around $3,000. Only issue is that it is from 2006 (sites like Bridal Garden say they'll only accept dresses bought in last 5 years). However, style is very classic (dress is off-white).
My area just began requiring the use of a hands free device while driving. I don't talk and drive very often, but am occasionally required to for work. I've never used a handsfree device before, so I'm not super sure what to even look for. Any suggestions? Bonus points if it's available on Amazon. Extra details that may or may not matter: I have an iphone 5c, and whatever I get will need to go on my left ear. I live in an area where it's often below freezing, and my car radio is not bluetooth enabled. Thanks!

The Mrs and I long for the give and bounce of the cheap mattress she had in college. But shopping around it seems like none of the new mattresses have that great springy coil bounce we enjoyed so much. What are we missing here? Is there something specific to ask for? Do I need to go super-cheap off-brand to get what we're looking for? [more inside]

A recurring situation in my life: Meet a great girl, start sexy time, feel erect from kissing and fondling (good!), the girl goes down on me and then I completely lose my erection (bad). I cannot remember a time in my life that I've enjoyed oral sex. Is there something wrong with me? [more inside]

Anywhere from Dixieland to Penguin Café Orchestra, via Django Reinhardt and something Latin, what musicians/tracks/albums can you suggest for a 4-hour playlist to make a happy, potentially boppable score to a cocktail party? Would be nice to divide it into intro, main and outro parts - but all suggestions are welcome for a fun, refined, vocal-less (or at least mainly so), non-pop soundtrack to a charming, light-hearted evening. (Bonus points if sourceable via Rdio.) Thanks!
I'm in the pool six-seven days a week for various aerobics, pilates, and zumba classes. As my exertion increases, my old aqua socks are starting to fall off during class. Do you have recommendations for laced wide-foot water shoes? [more inside]

My mother is visiting Berkeley and would like to shop for clothing. She is 80 and her taste runs to Koret and Coldwater Creek but both of those have become online only. Can you recommend a brick and mortar clothing store where she might enjoy shopping for herself? She would be interested in a chain store or an interesting boutique.
