How can I find and buy a trashy erotic novel called Labels?

When I was around 11 or so, a thick mass market paperback that had been sitting in the book cabinet my whole life finally caught my interest. It turned out to be incredibly filthy; so much so that I marked every sex scene with a Post-It and spent a lot of intimate time with the book until an older cousin borrowed it and never returned it. It's named "Labels," due to a setting in the high fashion world of the 80s? I remember basically everything about it except the author, including a LOT of sex scenes, which I will enumerate for you: [more inside]

More songs for baby video, like M. Ward's "One Hundred Million Years"

I'm looking for more songs similar to M. Ward's "One Hundred Million Years" for a 20-minute baby photo/video compilation. I have found plenty of kids' songs and songs written about having children. I'm looking for more indie songs that echo the sentiment, "And this love, this love between you and I, Is older than that burning ball of fire up in the sky." Songs by indie singers about endless love, happiness, joy, the beauty of life, etc. would fit the bill. [more inside]

What's this metal thing?

I came across this cute metal thing in a closet and have no idea what it's used for. It's like a three dimension capital I. A magnet doesn't stick to it. Dimensions are about .75"x.75"x1". It weighs 1.5oz, which seems heavy for its size and the fact that part of it is hollow. Photos inside! [more inside]

Can my Nexus 7 be revived?

I have a 2012 Nexus 7 that hasn't been successfully turned on in over a year. After the last time I used it, I was without it for a few months. When I returned, it didn't seem to react to being plugged in to charge, even leaving it charging for a whole day. I didn't have time to deal with it then, so now it's been sitting on a shelf for many months. Can it be resurrected, or is it probably just dead?

Abscess or just sore swollen dental ligaments?

After a filling was replaced and ground down a couple of times recently, I have a tooth that is very sore to the touch, but does not ache on its own. The gum beside it is swollen and tender and soft, and if i make myself bite down it feels spongy under the tooth. The dentist says he can get me in again in a week. Is this an abscess? Do I need to push to get in faster? [more inside]

Please take my whisky!

I have a couple of unopened bottles of whisky that I don't want. No one I have asked wants them. Normally I use Craigslist to give away stuff I don't want anymore, but listing alcohol is against the TOS for both Craigslist and Freecycle. I have also heard that food banks don't accept alcohol. I hate throwing away perfectly good stuff. Does anyone know of somewhere I can donate them, or any other way to legally find them a good home?

Do we need a lawyer when we close on our mortgage refinance?

Because we are in New York state, when we close on our refi, we are going to have to sign all of our paperwork in person. As I understand it, New York law requires this. We had our own lawyer present when we closed on the purchase of this house. Should we have one when we close on the refinance? If so, Why? If it matters, we are in Nassau county, and we are refinancing with the original bank who has owned our mortgage since we purchased the home.

Bored and concened while really groggy

Hi, This morning I went for an endoscopy with sedation (my first time). Every thing went fine, as far as I know. Now I still feel groggy and really really bored. I'm also uneasy about what happened. I'm watching cartoons on TV now but I don't know what else to do to not be bored and take my mind off of it. I think I slept all I can earlier. Any suggestions? More details under the cut. Talk to me!

Trying to dumb the back story down: Fell head over heels in love with this woman about 7-8 years ago and prob the only time I have been in love. She liked me back (I think to the same degree but not sure). She was the one for sure. I was in a terrible emotional/mental spot and felt like I did not deserve her or to be with someone that I loved, so I basically told her that I was not in a place where I could commit. She tried her best to show me otherwise and for literally years we kept in touch and talked a lot. She continued to date other people. [more inside]

Comic / diagram about arguing groups and selection bias

I think I saw this somewhere, it may have been XKCD, SMBC, The Oatmeal, or something else, that made an argument with illustrations. Basically it argued if you have two groups who disagree, the moderates of group A would disproportionately interact with the most argumentative people from group B and vice versa, leading each to get a skewed impression of the other.

Can you have two health insurance companies & plans?

Hi MeFi, So a bit of a weird situation here. I was laid off in 2013 and at the end of that year I applied for Obamacare. It took FOREVER to get the application going since the website was awful so long story short, it's early 2014 and I get a job with full benefits. I completely forget about the application for Obamacare and it's now January 2015 and I received a letter from CeltiCare Health saying 'hi, here's your coverage card. you are now insured with celticare...' So now, technically, I have two coverages? One from my employer and through Celticare? How does this work? Should I call Celticare and let them know I already have insurance? What benefits are there to having two? Legal or not? Thanks for your help!
