Any tips for getting grout residue off of hardwood floors? Some previous owners of my house had carpeting in the living room, and tiles that they placed around the fireplace hearth (tiles were 1/4" thick and brick-like, in case anyone cares). I removed the carpet and the tiles to reveal the hardwood floors underneath, which is in fairly good shape in most areas. Except right around the fireplace where some white residue remains from where the tiles were. Is there anyway to reduce or remove this completely other than refinishing? Or should I just put an area rug over it until that time comes?

Girlfriend diagnosed with diverticulitis two days ago, admitted into hospital for IV antibiotics, hopefully being released this afternoon.
Still awaiting discharge instructions, but anticipating she'll be on a low-residue, liquid only diet for a week.
Looking for ideas/recipes on soups/juice/smoothies to prepare for her so it's not the same old chicken broth and orange juice every day.
She may be advised to limit dairy intake (milk/yogurt) to under 2 cups a day.

What's the gray residue in my water? We moved into this home (built circa 1985) 2 years ago. After bathwater has drained, you find a silty residue left in the tub. You can't see it in the water itself. Residue looks a bit like the calcium deposits one might find normally, but ranges from gray to sometimes sandy brown. Lately there is also some substance much like this clinging to dishes after the dishwasher runs too.

My old water well was "dug" with dynamite. I drank the water for years. Did the dynamite residue harm my health? A voice on the radio implied it might have. Google is un-helpful so far. I'd appreciate facts rather than speculation.
