How do you market researchers do what you do? I’m curious about the profession and I’d like some information on how researchers actually spend time. Special projects at my design service firm often include an element of conjecture about potential audience. When we work on projects that might be legitimately useful or tool-like, I’d like to introduce some rigor into our process and know better when to think about hiring a contractor or outside vendor for research. What certifications/courses can I take (Quantitative Research Oriented) - Senior Management in a Nonprofit
Hi, I'm at a senior-management position and currently head three departments including research, strategic relations and advocacy and digital initiatives at a very well known non-profit media media company for children. I'm wondering what kinds of certifications I can take to add to my professional qualifications/credentials. I'd like specific certification/course recommendations that have to do with large-scale quantitative research skills, project management, finance and such. Qualifications that can be pursued internationally are best - I'm based in India.

Another Ph.D quit-or-stay question: I'm really unhappy in my particular lab, and maybe unhappy with the whole idea of the Ph.D. I still like the idea of research - just want to work on a project that I'm interested in. What is the best way for me to be able to work on things that I like, possibly outside of a Ph.D degree program, but still in an academic lab? Looong snowflake details inside, summary at end. I’m currently working on my masters in an Industrial/Occupational Psychology program. My main topic of interest will be differences in national, social, and organizational cultures. What sort of anthropological or ethnological resources or books can you recommend regarding learning how to be good participant-observer and the techniques to do so? I’m already familiar with the works on culture from researchers such as Geert Hofestede, Edward Hall, and Fons Trompenaars. If there are any other recommendations regarding relevant resources or texts in related fields that my compliment my studies, please let me know. My interests lie in psychology, sociology, and politics which I believe are applicable. Thanks in advance!

Can anyone help find a cite for a study? I think I heard about it on the radio at some point. It was a study that recorded classrooms - I think high school - and then talked about how much classroom time was spent on girls' discussion and questions and how much on boys. It also surveyed student/teacher perceptions of the time spent, and had a follow-up component where teachers tried to even out the time. Thanks in advance!
