I have been living in a small university town outside Prague in the Czech Republic since the summer. I am using my 2006 Apple MacBook MA254LL/A (running 10.5.5) to connect to the internet. However, I have experienced a lot of problems connecting to free wireless internet hotspots. My laptop takes a while to locate the network by scanning, and then either asks for a password or tells me the network is unavailable. I know that my Airport works fine elsewhere, and that the connection usually happens automatically. I will ask one of the workers at the store if there is a password, and the answer is always no. Moreover, I see PC users connecting to the internet without a problem. Does anyone know what the issue is with wireless networking on a Mac in the Czech Republic? [I would post this question to the Apple support forums, but it appears that their new accounts system is down]

Me and my gf want to visit the Altai Republic in Russia. However a friend of ours wanted to visit the place, but weren't allowed to enter because he didn't have a permit. So where does one get a permit to enter the Altai Republic and why is it necessary to get one? I mean, a tourist-visa should be able to give you access to most of the country as long as the cities you want to visit is stated on the visa.

Vacation Filter; Need help planning our family vacation. The vacation will be for four days at the end of October. The two destinations are the Bahamas or the DR! Please recommend all-inclusive resorts that will be fun for us. Our group is five people. (Two parents in their fifties, and four others in early to late 20s). Good restaurants, fun activities and maybe a bit of partying for the youngins :) thanks in advance!

Later this month, my boyfriend will be going to Prague on business for two weeks. Instead of packing two weeks worth of clean clothes, he'd like to take less and do laundry while he's over there. The big question is how? Are there public laundry facilities there? How do you find them? Specifically, he'll be at the Corinthia Towers Hotel.
And, hey, as long as you're here: Got any general travel tips for the area? He travels internationally so there's no "OMG! I'm leaving American soil!" freak-out going on. This just happens to be a place he's never been so: should he get a phrase book, is it relatively easy for foreigners to get around, what should he make time to see, etc?

Spurred on by what happened at Czechtek, I'm trying to find more out about electronic musicians from the Czech Republic. The trouble is, I don't speak Czech.
Does anyone know of any great Czech producers, or of any web translation sites that reliably do Czech to English so I can do more research? [more inside]

If I lived in a country (mentioning no names, because I'm not sure if it is treason...) that had an unelected head of state, and whos position was based on the family they were born into, how would I go about getting rid of them, in any way other than the obvious one? I'm thinking some kind of political campaign, etc.
