Reporting a WA State trucker for making obscene, sexist gestures?

While driving with my young children in the car, the white male driver of a large WA State semi truck suddenly pulled up alongside my car on a WA state road, honked his horn, and made obscene, sexist gestures that simulated cunnilingus, directed at me (I'm a woman). Right in front of my kids. [more inside]

I came here to learn about the body, not your sexism and politics

I have a professor who constantly makes sexist comments and drops right-wing political commentary into a class where it's totally irrelevant, and I'm not the only one in class who notices. I am documenting instances of these behaviors to report to school higher-ups. What's the best way to frame my complaints, make sure they're seen by the right person, and maybe get some classmates on board with me? Examples and snowflakes below. [more inside]

Resources on how to write (satirical) newspaper articles?

I've been writing satirical news articles for a website I created, and while my articles have been popular so far, I realized that I've been writing solely on my instinct of how a newspaper article would sound. What are some resources that go more in-depth on the style of newspaper articles, rather than the news gathering/reporting side of journalism?

Author Interview

What is the best way to approach an author for an interview? I'm assuming I go through the publisher, although this author has published just one book. Since I'm a student/independent journalist, I'm wondering whether my email is likely to be forwarded along to the author. My feeling is the author may be interested, but since it's a student piece it's unlikely to sell more books. Should I worry about catering to the publisher in any way in my correspondence -- and if so, how? T

Report Bug Tracking

I have been tasked with leading report writing efforts for a new core banking system. We have spec'ed out around 500 reports and will be using OBIEE as our reporting / business intelligence tool. Has anyone worked with a methodology for developing and testing reports? It is easy to find articles and books on software development and testing, but reports seem to be a different animal. Maybe not? I am looking for process, procedures, and test cases that could be applied specifically for reports. Anyone have any experience with large scale report writing on a new enterprise system?

Help me be a better college instructor
