Landlord Problems

We gave the rental company 30 days notice, its now 2 days from the latest possible turn-in date for the keys without incurring a penalty. Here is the problem. My building manager, didn't show up for my first scheduled walk through or even return my calls asking for an explanation and a reschedule. I emailed and called and left (multiple) messages to the actual company, they have not deigned to respond. [more inside]

The friend of my customer's neighbor's car is my something-or-other

What options does a landlord likely have when a tenant's guest/friend is slashing the neighbors' tires and threatening them and has a criminal record? Assume standard lease in Illinois and that the guest definitely did it but the police won't make an arrest yet. The tenant has done nothing wrong.

Fake landlords

My friend, renting a room in a house, has found that the people he was renting from didn't actually own the house. He came home to find an eviction notice on his door and the locks changed. The fake landlords have moved all of their stuff out, changed their phone number, and are gone without a trace. Now my friend can't get to his stuff. [more inside]
