My partner and I have saved a deposit of $50,000 to put down on a house. We're looking for a one bed flat around the Gastown area of Vancouver BC, which we may end up renting out while we move to the US for a couple of years for work, but I have no idea how to go about this. [more inside]

Couple living together. He is (verbally) abusive.
He is not on the lease, does not pay rent. (GF/BF situation).
The girl wants to get rid of him. What are her options?
What are his rights? Does he have any?
They live together probably over one year.

I'm in a bad pickle at this time, so I'm reaching out to the Green to help me decide which the best next step is moving forward.
To keep it as simple as possible, I got in a car accident more than two years ago, using a major car rental company. I got an unexpected bill from the car rental company almost two years later (late December 2011) for a high amount (let's say over $30,000) that the other party apparently were given by the rental company due to their alleged injures. I had no insurance when I was in the accident. For many reasons, I felt the collection of the debt was unfair. I had temporary legal representation (a family friend), but he was unable to get the car rental company to forgo the collection, so he bowed out early January. [more inside]

I just signed something a few hours ago to rent a room, and already, I'm regretting it. Is there any kind of "buyer's remorse" grace period in the state of California? I haven't given them the first month's rent or security deposit, yet. [more inside]

My friend, renting a room in a house, has found that the people he was renting from didn't actually own the house. He came home to find an eviction notice on his door and the locks changed. The fake landlords have moved all of their stuff out, changed their phone number, and are gone without a trace. Now my friend can't get to his stuff. [more inside]

How do I get my security deposit back? We bought our first home and moved out of our apartment 6 months in to a 12 month lease and found someone to take over our apartment. [more inside]

My fiance and I made the mistake of renting from a young friend of mine who just bought her first house here in London, Ontario, Canada. We have been here since November 1st with nothing but trouble - construction which pushed back our move-in date by two weeks and then continued for weeks afterwards, incredibly loud dogs (she has 3 dogs upstairs who are almost always in cages) not to mention domestic fights from upstairs. We rent a shared house in London. There are damp issues in a downstairs room which are known about by the landlord. We have just noticed a severe case of black mould infesting an upstairs wall. What are our legal rights as tenants? [more inside]

Leases often contain a clause saying you can be evicted if you disturb the neighbors. Mostly hypothetical question inside. [more inside]
