If I wanted to buy a house or condo in a distant state as an investment, and I had an opportunity to buy a place outright, with tenants and leases already in place, should I? How about outright but sans tenants? More info within. [more inside]
We are thinking of buying a condo. We would use it as a rental, so most likely we would never live there. Aside from college, many moons ago, we've always lived in single family homes, so not much experience with renting or apartment life. What are the right questions to ask, or the right things to consider, before making this leap?
I own a condo in Chicago (in a trendy neighborhood) in a building that has no rental cap and is mostly renters. I'm interested in trying to sell it myself, and am interested in thoughts on what sort of things I'd want to do to make it particularly interesting to investors rather than owner-residents. I have a list of neighborhoods I'd consider living, a list of amenities that I consider necessary and/or negotiable, and a $ amount in mind per month. How can I make the selection process move along more quickly than the Craigslist Method? [more inside]

I am working in Central Jersey now (near Princeton), and still living in NYC. Want to know if there any acceptable places for a single guy to live in this area. I checked out River Park at Raritan - it looks ok. Looked at Pike Run in Belle Mead, but I read a number of reviews and they were all pretty bad. Tenants were complaining about bedbugs and poor insulation. Are there any places, preferably on the luxury rental side, that are decent for a single professional to live in the area?
If I move for 6 months to a year, what do I do with my condo? [more inside]
I need ideas for renting out our furnished Seattle condo while still allowing us to use it periodically, and while not running afoul of our condo association's rule regarding rentals. [more inside]
My boyfriend and I just booked a flight to Honolulu for the first week of May and now we need to find accommodations. We're hoping to find a week-long rental somewhere within the city to use as a home base, spend most of our time at the beach and/or exploring nearby tourist-y sites via public transit, and maybe rent a car for just a couple days.
