I have large patches of raised scars and broken blood vessels across huge areas of my body. (I'm an adult in my twenties.) None of this was ever self-inflicted, nor desired in any way at any time. Can any of this be fixed medically/surgically if I save up the money? What about the purple/red marks crisscrossing my flesh? I know that laser surgery is possible for single scars, and to remove tattoos, but as for improving skin quality, I have no idea. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Went out in the woods yesterday in my new Patagonia fleece jacket. Noticed the dog was covered with tiny black burrs and then noticed I was covered with them too
. The jacket is covered with masses of them and they are impossible to pull off as they are clumped together. Duct tape and packing tape do not work. Help me to be wear my new jacket again. Suggestions please?

We can put a man on the moon. We can turn a woman into a man and a man into a woman. We can create computers that are smarter than us. We know what the middle of the earth looks like...And so on and so on and so on...... We are a pretty much technology advanced race of humans.
How close are we to inventing a 'Nair' like product for the head? I'm bald and a bit lazy and tired of the routine of shaving my head 3x a week to maintain an appearance that isn't so 'gruff'. My wife likes me smooth!
Every hair removal product I read of is not recommended for the head, because our skin on top is too thin and the hair removal chemicals could do more damage then good.
So anyway, is there a solution on the horizon? Any miracle head hair removal gel, cream, mist coming out soon?
Life must be pretty good if this is what concerns me at the moment...... Humor me?

I dropped off all my possessions (pretty much everything I own) in boxes at a local storage facility in the UK (in awful circumstances - details below) and failed to get a receipt, only a verbal agreement that they would do my paperwork by email, and deliver my boxes in a month's time. I then had to leave the country. Four weeks later, I've yet to receive any invoice or confirmation. I've called and emailed several times and have been told in a genial but rather brusque way that they will get in touch, but so far no email. I'm heading back to the UK soon and want to get my boxes delivered this weekend. Still no invoice or receipt. I am FREAKING OUT that they are being so flaky. I am having panicky visions of them losing or selling all my things, and me showing up in the UK with basically the clothes on my back and nothing else. Have I made a terrible mistake? Is there anything I can do? Apologies in advance for long freaking-out-ness below the jump. [more inside]

I've been diagnosed with a multi-noidal non-malignant thyroid. The beast is about 2X normal size = goiter (I divert attention from it with my sparkling personality and feminine loveliness). After 20 years of the goiter with normal hormone levels, it has gone into high-gear with excessive production. I've had the scan and ultrasound, biopsy, blood tests, yada yada. Two wonderful endocrinologists have separately told me, "just get the damned thing out!" I've visited their choice of surgeon and feel confident of his skills.
I would appreciate your post-surgery experience: how soon after surgery did you get your replacement hormone? recovery time? any weight gain or loss? how long until you were back to normal? any advice? Thanks very much for your time.

We received this dressmaker's dummy
from our client with old sticker residue on her. Too many items to shoot to just Photoshop the spot out, so I'm desperate for a permanent solution- The obvious point here is I can't throw her into the washing machine as she's wooden directly under the fabric that needs cleaning. Already tried a small bit of Goo Gone, with a clean white cloth, but I think it may just be moving the gunk around and not removing the residue as I'd hoped. I read about lighter fluid (butane), WD-40 and some others, but am obviously hesitant to do anything that may permanently discolor this spot even more. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

What should I know to research good training in tattoo removal? I'm interested in solid, respected programs that will qualify me to work in a professional setting doing quality work. Googling yields expensive proprietary schools charging many thousands of dollars. Is this really state-of-the-art laser training? I want to be a well-prepared candidate when I graduate, able to work in a medically-based office or spa. [more inside]

I assume the tools have changed in the past 5 years or so, despite Windows' better security, but back in my day it was Avira, Symantec and CCleaner. I'm trying to replace my exterior locking door knob, but I cannot get one 'half' off. There is a faceplate covering the screws on one side (the other side). I've tried looking for slots and notches based on google searching, but there is nothing, except some indentations that have no holes or anything that gives. I've used this hook-type item that comes with the new lock, but no idea how it works.
Here's as good as pic I can get
. It's a Weiser lock from late 90s probably.

I just watched Poltergeist, which I am now thinking seems right-wing, almost Catholic. at the end of the movie, the husband kicks the tv out of the room and serene music plays. is this a common feature of the movies of the time? did people kick the tv out of the room a lot in the movies of the 80s?

Someone vandalized my car, damaging my front bumper and writing obscenities on my car window with permanent marker. Because the damage is in two places on the car, my insurance company says it has to be two separate claims, and therefore two deductibles. I can't afford that, so I'm making a claim for the bumper, but I'll have to take care of the window myself. any suggestion on what will take off the permanent marker without damaging the window. It's the passenger side window, not the windshield if that matters.

I recently purchased a condo and it comes with popcorn ceilings. I want them removed but I had an asbestos abatement company come to look at them and they determined that they contained a "trace" amount, or less than one percent, asbestos. They provided me an outlandish quote for safe and sanitary (as well as legally up and up) removal. Doing some web research, I find their quote to be about standard for what similar companies charge. I bought a pretty white satin dress
for halloween. Part of my costume is that I have to put fake blood all over it, since I'm going as Carrie. However, I'm starting to get really sad that I am going to ruin this dress, as I like the idea of wearing it for other things too. Is there any recipe for fake blood I can use that will wash out easily. Or is there any way I can rescue the dress afterwards? I was planning on making my fake blood with corn syrup and red/green food coloring.
