Two days ago I bought a $1500 airline ticket through Swiss Air as a gift for my mother. This was roundtrip, from US to Switzerland and back. Things just didn't work out, and now she can't go. I called today and talked to a customer service rep and a supervisor, who informed me that I can get a whopping $12 refund. Is my only option to just keep a $1500 piece of paper? Ideally I would like a refund. I realize that the "non-refundable" part presents a problem. Side note: they should probably put that somewhere on the confirmation email or website. If not, can I sell the ticket? Give it away? Do anything besides use this as a $1500 life lesson? I'm not really interested in giving them another $250 to book with them in the next year.

I bought a shirt through a well-known website for my brother for Christmas. He didn't like it, and on January 13th he mailed it back, unworn, to the shirt company's warehouse. On January 15th I opened up a help desk ticket asking when I should expect a refund, and was told I'd receive an e-mail when they had gone through their returns. It has now been more than four months, and I've bumped the ticket a few times.

Over the past 6 months I've been having a dental implant installed, and it has now failed. The dentist has been rather dismissive of the pain, and I'm pretty sure I can identify specifically when the implant failed and I believe it to be his fault. This should have taken 4 appointments to finish, and has now been 9, and will end with the 10th…hopefully. There are other instances of his (possible) incompetence past the break (please read if you are going to reply). He has said that after I heal when it's removed he will do the process again for free…but I'm rather terrified of him now. Do I have any legal recourse to ask for a refund?
Again, details after the break.

True or False: If you're supposed to receive a refund from the IRS, but you file an extension and submit it at the very last, the IRS has to pay you the interest that has accrued on your refund, just like you'd have to pay any interest to the IRS if you owed taxes.

Efax notified me that they'd billed me hundreds of dollars to auto-renew my totally sucky membership. I called and asked to cancel, and they said no problem, they'd cancel me and refund my credit card. Then....nothing. Repeat. Same result. Seems to be the scam where they hope X% of customers don't notice refund hasn't gone through. So....I disupted charge with Mastercard. And they refuse to do anything.

On June 26 I purchased the video game
Puzzle Quest 2 from Gamestop. While playing it thus far, I've experienced three rather substantial bugs:
these two, and
this one, the last of which has utterly destroyed my enjoyment of the game. I still have the receipt and everything that came with the game in 'played but otherwise perfect' condition, and I want a refund.

My girlfriend received a letter from a Dr. Gordon Boggs in Carrollton, GA, stating that she was due a refund of overpaid mortgage insurance. In exchange for a promise to pay 10% of the overpayment after receiving a signed form from us agreeing to a "handshake deal" (basically promising to send him 10% of the refund), he would send us a case number and contact information to begin processing this overpayment due to my girlfriend. Is this legit? How can we find out more about this without kicking back anything to the person? Thanks.

My girlfriend took a $200 dress to the dry cleaners, paid $9 for it to be cleaned, and it was returned with broken threads and missing beading. The dry cleaning place sited some Federal Trade Commission ruling that they say protects them from having to pay for the clothing. Three part question, all of which are important to me: a) What is the FTC ruling they're referring to? b) How difficult will taking them to court be? c) Are there any strategies to further the discussion of them simply paying for the dress?
