Is your refrigerator running? No, it is not!

Sometime in the last 24 hours, my refrigerator (Kirkland Signature by Whirlpool, aka the cheapest fridge you can buy at Costco*) gave up the ghost. The light is still working and it seems that the back panel of the freezer is cold, but the fan is not blowing and the fridge itself is not cold at all. [more inside]

Unplugging my refrigerator for 24 hours fixed it. Will the fix last?

My side by side refrigerator/freezer stopped cooling, so we unplugged it and went to buy a new one. On a lark I plugged it back in 24 hours later, and now it functions perfectly. Anyone know if the problem is likely to return (or what the problem might be?) I vacuumed the back-bottom compartment where the compressor is located, but there wasn't much dust there so I doubt dust was the problem.

My fridge is failing to cool my food.

The side-by-side fridge in our rental (a GE tfx22zrs, tfx22jrs) has been failing to keep the refrigerator side cool (freezer side works fine). I think I have traced this down to some kind of lightbulb short -- the bulb heats up so much, so fast, I presume it is keeping the food from getting cool; possible fuse problem? Do fridges have user-serviceable fuses? Or is this a compressor problem and the lightbulb a red herring? [more inside]

Fixing a freezer.

I just broke my landlady's fridge-freezer. I was scraping ice out of the icy part, and I nicked the cooling device, letting out all the magic gas. Can I fix it? Can my engineer buddies fix it? [more inside]
