We're trying to optimize our home printing. We don't print an enormous amount, but we want to print in color and to be able to print in moderately high quality.
You've already solved this problem and put some thought into minimizing cartridge expense: what printer do you use? how often do you replace the ink? do you refill the cartridges at a store or buy new ones from the OEM?
(Bonus points if you've solved this problem for the HP 8600.) [more inside]

I'm looking for a fast laser printer (black and white is fine) with low running costs and not too invasive software. Ideally one with separate toner and drum cartridges and easily refillable from non-official sources. [more inside]

Doctor's office can't seem to call in refills correctly. These are time-sensitive meds (benzos and anti-depressants) that we shouldn't run out of. Asking for a new nurse didn't change anything. Help? [more inside]

Where can I find a 6.1" x 3.2" refill for my Mont Blanc notebook? I can only find official Mont Blanc refills
and they cost $35 each! It's really just a thick, lined, soft backed exercise book...

Is there anywhere in the UK that will refill empty cosmetics bottles? You used to be able to take empty bottles back to The Body Shop to be refilled from jumbo tubs behind the counter, but since they stopped I've never found anywhere else that does it. [more inside]

Zippofilter: I recently bought a 1976 Zippo knockoff at an antique store for $3. It has a wick and flint, but is completely out of oil. The problem is that the aluminum has oxidized and is so jammed in there that i can't remove it for refilling. Does anyone know a way to get it out?

The powers-that-be at my office decided to just refill the water cooler bottles from the tap (actually, the hose in the janitors closet that fills/rinses the mop bucket) instead of paying for the water bottle service. Is this dangerous, or just cheap? [more inside]

Have you replaced your inkjet print cartridges with a generic by physically moving the cartridge chip? This site
gives instructions, but I can't tell if this will screw up my printer's ability to detect low ink levels or not. Does this work?

When refilling a typical 20-pound propane tank (for an outdoor BBQ grill, if it matters), does it need to be completely empty before disconnecting from the grill and taking it to the gas station? [more inside]

I bought a refill kit to re-ink my printer ink cartridge and spilled the small bottle of fluid labeled "cartridge and print head wash.'
I'd like to get more of this fluid without having to buy another whole kit.
Any idea what this fluid is and/or what generic item might replace it?
