Red-faced runner

How can I prevent or shorten the time that my face is beet red after going for a jog? I have been working on the Couch-to-5k program which, for those not in the know, is a jogging program that very slowly and gradually has you walking and running in increments until after many weeks, you're running and no longer walking. Each session is only 30 minutes, and you do it 3 times a week. It's simple and I like it, which is the first time in my life I can say I like any kind of exercise for exercise's sake.

Problem is, a normal person would have to carve out only an hour or so to run and them come home, shower, and be on their merry way. But no, not me. My face is unbelievably beet red, so much so that it looks like a sunburn. And it stays that way for over an hour after I'm done running and showering.

I'm not running strenuously.
I'm running in 45-65 degree weather, usually in the morning, so it's not too hot.
I'm running mostly in shaded areas.
I wear sunscreen.
I take a cool shower immediately upon returning.
I stay really well hydrated.
I run a fan when I get home.
I'm a white, but not pale, 30 year old woman.
I have a good diet and am in good health.
I don't feel over-exhausted or over-heated.
I currently take a birth control pill and Wellbutrin, but the red-face thing has always been the case throughout my life and before these medications.
Make-up won't cover it, and I wouldn't want to do that anyway.
I can't pay for a gym membership right now, and I probably wouldn't use it anyway.

This is only a problem because my schedule does not allow me 2-3 hours of consecutive time, three days a week, to stay out of public and 'cool down', and I'd really like to be able to give myself the time to stick with this program to the end.

What can I do to cool down my face quicker so that I can get on with my life after I run?

52" Men's Burgundy Chinos under $75?

Where can I get burgundy/dark red chinos (or other machine-washable trousers) in a 52" waist for men for a decent price? I am trying to spruce up my wardrobe a little bit, and I would like some burgundy/dark red (wine, cordovan, maroon, etc.) pants that I can machine wash (chinos, or polyester if need be), and that will fit my large frame (52" waist). I have found some bright red chinos, but that's not really my thing.

The nearest I have found are these super-cheap cordovan-colored pants from a place called "Haband." From what I've read online, not only are Haband's products typically poor quality, but they have awful customer service and tend to enroll people in their "rewards club" (=$15 a month charged to your credit card) surreptitiously. Needless to say, I ran from there.

Internet searching has been otherwise fruitless; though I have found some custom tailor places that will make them for ca. $75 shipped. If anything less expensive exists I'd be glad to know of it. If you know of a brick-and-mortar place in State College, PA or Metro Detroit that might carry them, I would welcome that information too. Thanks.

Is there a way to make my iPhone screen redder at night?

A friend introduced me to f.lux for Mac, and I'm hoping to find a way to adjust the color of my iPhone screen to be more in line with my circadian rhythms. I'd been fantasizing about an app which made my iPhone screen dimmer and redder at night and brighter and bluer in the morning to help maintain regular circadian rhythms. A friend introduced me to f.lux, and I am enjoying it on my laptop, but I can't find anything like it for the iPhone without jailbreaking my phone.

Do you know any way to make my screen redder?

A timed app would be ideal - but I'd be happy with any way to adjust the hue/color balance on my iPhone.

Coincidence, subliminal message, subconscious symbolism, or what?

I've noticed some recurrent patterns in music videos (use of numbers, colors, etc.) that have piqued my interest. I'm wondering if any industry insiders can shed any light or if anyone has explored this concept academically or otherwise. Googling has only revealed a bunch of sites about wacky conspiracy mind-control theories. I'm not asking about whether the Illuminati controls Kanye; I'm talking more about videos as a developing art form which includes a unique system of symbology--or perhaps is sprinkled with insider references amongst video professionals, like that industry's version of 1337.

For example, the colors red and blue often form the basic palette of a music video. Color symbolism varies, but in Western culture, gender comes to mind: blue being a "male" color and red (more likely pink) a "female" color. However, in the past decade or so, the "red pill vs. blue pill" meme has cropped up in pop culture. Both symbologies refer to a deeper dualism. What I'm wondering is, how much of this is consciously present in the creation of a video and if so, what exactly does it signify (if anything)?

I've noticed the number 304 cropping up repeatedly too. In urban slang this refers to "hoe" (as in 304 turned upside down on a calculator). Then there's the HTTP status code 304 which a server will respond with if the website has not been modified since the date and time specified in the request. What I'm wondering about is whether there's any conscious use of this number in a symbolic way (whether related to hoe or HTTP or not) or theories that could explain it.

Oftentimes, this number occurs in videos as a time on a clock, as in Alanis Morissette's version of Seal's "Crazy" at 3:56 and t.A.T.u's "Bely plaschik" (NSFW) at 2:14. Interestingly, both of these videos allude to Lesbian themes and I wonder if there is any significance to that.

The trope also appears in Britney Spears' "Hit Me Baby One More Time" video at 0:14; in Bloc Party's "I Still Remember" at 0:31 and throughout (note color themes as well); and of course in the name of Jewel's album 0304. I'm not sure how 304 might be interpreted in these contexts but it does jump out.

There are quite a few other examples of motifs that seem to be emerging in videos; these are just a couple that really stand out to me and I'm wondering if there's anything intentional to the pattern.

Red Shirts who survive.

It is commonly known that on Star Trek the red shirts die. Take a look at these dead guys or these dead guys. I need some help identifying red shirts that don't die or even red shirts who have survived a very long time. I'm doing my best to keep my sense of humour during a "re-org". I'm pretty sure I've been handed a red shirt and whilst I can do all the things logical and practical to work through the process of the re-structure, it's also fun/necessary to have a stress relief valve. I'd like to believe that I can be the longest surviving red shirt.

Skinny Jeans!

Mens fashion filter: Where can I find RED jeans, that are "super skinny"? I've been on the hunt to snaz up my pants collection. I have about 8 pairs of jeans. 2 black pairs, the rest are some shade of dark blue. Most of my jeans are Levis 511 Skinny, or 510 Super Skinny. The term "super skinny" probably has most people thinking I'm wearing skin tight jeans, but on my legs, they are a decent fit. They hug my legs, but are nowhere near the emo/skater skin tight jeans I've seen people wear.

I have a pair of Abrocrombie and Fitch jeans that I found at a Plato's closet for $18. They fit me REALLY nice. They hug my legs how I like without squeezing too much, and the way they taper down to my ankle is perfect. But...A&F jeans are like $80 a pop, and all they have are blues.

its not that hard to find red jeans. I've walked into H&M and saw the array of color jeans they have, but when I put them on, I'm disappointed in the cut. They are cut like slim strait jeans. I've looked around for a cool pair of corduroy pants, but they all seem to be the same baggy cut. Its frustrating.

Probably an important thing to note, I wear a 32/34. But I own jeans that are 33/34s and they fit fine, as well as 34/34. Even with the 32 a 32 waist I need belt to pick up the little bit of extra slack.

So, where can I find jeans/corduroy pants that are colored, but also have the fit that I'm looking for?

Thanks!!! :D

Here is my head. Make it less purple!

At home hair-dye gone not-so-terribly, but my pretty dark red has too much purple. What's the best toner to get rid of that color and leave a nice red? The situation is not dire; I'm not fleeing to the salon. It's just quite a bit more burgundy red than I would have liked. I did do two boxes of (boxed) dye last night, but my hair feels great right now, so I'll probably just wait a few days-week before doing the toner. I'm happy with permanent or semi-permenent. I have access to Sally's beauty supply. I'll be getting the opinion of my stylist today when I get it cut, but she's not really a colorist.

What's the best toner color to get that burgundy-purple out? Here's a pic and here's another. Is it even that bad? The color is so vibrant and shiny (yay!) but the purple is weirding me out a bit. Help?

Red Riding Trilogy Questions

Questions about the Red Riding trilogy (the movies, not the books). [spoilers] First of all, I'm confused as to why Craven gave Dunford a fully-loaded pistol before pushing him out of a moving van at the end of Part 1. No theories I've thought of on my own or read online make any sense.

Second of all, I understand the connection to the Yorkshire Ripper, but what of the pedophile ring and ensuing coverup? How much of the material in the films is based at least partly on real-life events, and how much is fictionalized? Was corruption a huge issue in The North and, if so, were those people ever officially outed publicly or charged or anything like that?

And finally, do people in The North not use the word "was"? I were, he were, she were, it were... What's wrong with "was"!!

I want to travel, one way I have heard to do this is through organizations such as FEMA and the red cross. I am graduating with a Bachelors in English in 3 weeks and am 24 years old. There are no entry level jobs that I saw available on their websites, am I doing something wrong? Does anyone know where I can find entry level positions?

I had thought about teaching English in a Spanish speaking country, does anyone know of some reputable programs for someone wish bare-bones Spanish knowledge looking to improve?

Someone I know who is a volunteer would like a copy of the REACT/Red Cross produced video "Where Seconds Count". He had been told he could view it online, but repeated online searches have failed to find it, and neither the Red Cross nor individual REACT organizations seem to be selling physical copies via their websites. I've been trying to help him find it, but have had no luck. Anybody? It may be "out of print" seeing as how it was initially produced in 1972:
"From 1970 to 1972, the Ohio REACT Emergency Network was formed, the same date that channel 9 became an official emergency channel under FCC rules. This network issued several reports to state and federal agencies to show the relationship between REACT and channel 9 as the emergency channel. This led to the later formation of the Ohio State REACT Council as a pattern for future Councils. REACT colors were changed to orange and black. The Red Cross agreement was reached and "Where Seconds Count" was produced. Dues were $1.00 per member with a $5.00 charter fee. All teams - new and existing - were issued a charter number. Teams chartered in 1970 are charter teams and designated with a "C" front of their numbers."
-from: http://newenglandreactcouncil.scriptmania.com/blank.html
I'm presuming it's been re-issued multiple times in multiple media formats since then (he mentioned having had a VHS tape of it which got left behind in a move). Or that perhaps "Where Seconds Count" is now considered obsolete, and there is a more recent similar video which is recommended for volunteers for REACT and similar organizations to watch.

Help me make red appetizers

Help me make red appetizers My wife and I are attending a party this weekend whose theme is 'red.' We've been asked to bring an appetizer suiting the theme. This is a pretty wide-open category, and I'm having trouble coming up with anything canonically red that works in small-bite form. We're pretty competent chefs, so complexity isn't an issue. Ideally we'd be able to do most of the prep work in advance and then assemble it when we get there, but we'll have a full kitchen and an hour or so to work with if anything has to be done at the last second. The food will spend most of a day in a car en route, though it will be cold enough outside that spoilage shouldn't be a problem. Do you have a killer app that fits our color scheme?

What the heck is this mark on my nose?

What the heck is this red (almost certainly inconsequential) mark on my nose? I have had a red, very obvious, dot on my nose for at least the last right years. It looks like a small tiny pinprick of deep red surrounded by a lighter circle. I can also "feel" it as a very very small but apparent raised bump I am pretty dang sure I did not have this when I was a kid and that it may have actually intensified in appearance sometime during my high school days.

Should I see a dermatologist? Can anything be done to remove this? Or is this something that nothing can be really done about?
I've lived with it for so long that I've gotten used to it, but I am always wondering if there's anything I can do about it.
help me pick a nice red wine for my dad for Christmas

I'd like to get my dad a nice bottle of red wine to drink with Christmas dinner. I'm thinking a nice table wine that he maybe hasn't tried before.

His favorites are Masi's Campofiorin and the Cesari Mara. In the past I've splurged on some nice Amarone's and Barolo's but I'm thinking I'd like to do something in the $10-$20 range.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Looking for a red head.

I need to find a picture or two of a specific long haired red-headed male model. I was telling someone about this picture because they want to grow their hair out. I want to show them this as an example but it's so hard to find. I saw it on livejournal a year ago I think. He is Caucasian, skinny, shirtless, and he has facial hair. This sounds strange, I know, but bear with me. Any idea? I tried google, but that turned up some really weird stuff. :/

Becoming a red-headed stranger.

I want to be a redhead. If you've been something else previously (especially a mousy brunette), is this a good idea? What works? What doesn't? What will people SAY???? Last time I got my hair cut (about a month ago) I looked in the mirror after I'd been blown out and realized with horror just how colorless it had become. My hair was once reddish brown; as a small child, I was a strawberry blond, but now at a little over 40 it was kind of dirty straw-colored and half gray. Yuck.

I've been contemplating getting my hair colored for a few years now, but all the beauty magazines advise women of a certain age (of which I'm on the outer fringes, to be sure, but it is inescapable) to go lighter. My younger sister, who went gray prematurely, has been a kind of a light caramel-brown since she was about thirty, and while she looks good, I don't want to be her clone--besides, she got all the melanin in the family and it suits her better than it probably would me (I am very, very pale-skinned with freckles and green eyes.) In any case, I just don't see myself as a blonde.

Anyways, it hit me yesterday: why not go red? I looked at pictures of redheaded woman in Google Images and settled on a copper like Julianne Moore's--I haven't her bone structure, but I definitely have her coloring, and she carries it off pretty well at age 50. I'm about sixty-percent Irish. This should work, right?

I made an appointment for a consultation with a highly-recommended stylist in town for tomorrow afternoon. Here goes nothing. I've warned my husband and prepared him. (It helps that he likes Julianne Moore.) But other people might be shocked.

So what I want to know is: is this a bad idea? I'm a female professional in a tech field that's mostly male. Will I be stereotyped--seen as difficult and tempramental, or capricious or flakey because I made such a drastic change to my appearance? Or worse? (Yeah, I've heard all the jokes.) How do people react to someone who has gone red after being kind of nondescript for a while? And is there any advice you would give me about what to expect?

Sorry if this sounds like a frivolous question, but for me it would be an enormous life change. (Melodramatic much?) And it's my hair--eeep! I want to trust this stylist, but I've heard plenty of horror stories in general about botched color jobs (none involving him, though). I thought I would put the question to a group of intelligent, reasonable people. Maybe I'm just looking for reassurance. Thank you in advance for humoring me.

What is this photo of?

Calling all Detectives: Help me identify what's in this photograph Hi Everyone - long time lurker, first-ish time poster. I'll be better I promise.

http://imgur.com/CyzHW.jpg

My wife's boss just sent around the above photo with a challenge to guess what the photo is of. I have a strong desire to win, even though I'm not involved.

I've put on my best detective hat, but any help would be much appreciated.

Here's what I know:

The company that made the thing is 'Rodney Hunt' (sort of legible on one of the spokes). They make water control devices.

The photo was taken here based on EXIF location data: Google Maps (Bedford NH)

I have searched up down left and right on Google, Google images, bing images, etc. I've tried uploading the picture to Google images and comparing it to no avail. I've edited the photo in Photoshop to no avail.

Guesses on the rest of the text:
Fort Hu__ (Huey? Hull?)

1936 as a year?

It looks a bit like the wheels that move cable cars in San Francisco, but Rodney Hull doesn't seem to be in the business?

Thanks very much for any help you can offer

Pink doesn't suit me

How do I keep reds(or other bright colors) from ruining my laundry? I never used to have any problems with bright colored clothing bleeding onto other clothing when washed, but after a couple recent mishaps I've gotten a bit worried. My worries began when I recently bought a cheap Fruit of the Loom pocket t-shirt of a deep red color and wore it to an amusement park; I got soaked from a water ride and thought nothing of it, till after my clothes dried from being in the sun I noticed that the red shirt had bled onto my khaki pants.

Then I had also been washing a cheap dark red polo shirt I recently bought in with whites, and while at first I didn't notice any bleeding, now I'm starting to notice some of the white shirts going slightly pink.

These recent mishaps worry me because in all the years I've been washing clothes, I've never had clothes noticeably bleed before(including bright reds). I'd like to be able to get back to the point where I can mix in all the clothes together and not have to worry about colors bleeding, if at all possible.

So what are some cheap and easy solutions for getting the moderate bleeding out of my khakis and whites, and is there anything I can do to make my bright colored(red in particular) shirts "bleed-proof"? Could I wash them separately in a basin of some combination with warm water in order to make them more bleed resistant?

I'm blindfolded as to the name of this blindfolded music video

I recently saw a Thai music video and I'm hoping to find out the song and artist... It was a kind of soft pop rock ballad. It's one of those music videos where the scenes of the band are separate from the scenes of the "main narrative"; where the main narrative involves separate actors, and not the band.

In the main narrative, the guy's girlfriend was cheating on him with some other guy. Near the end of the video, the guy is wearing a red blindfold; at this part, the singer is also wearing a red blindfold. The scenes with the band in this part are in black and white, save the red blindfold, which remains red. Other miscellaneous details:
-the guy's girlfriend has shorter hair
-the guy fantasizes about beating up the man she's cheating with, but ends up just walking out
-near the end of the video, there is a photo of the guy and his girlfriend, but his eyes are blacked out, like a "censor"

Thanks!

How do I make my permanently sunburned red face, less red? My face is pretty red, mostly around nose, and under eyes, and I think it comes from being severely sunburned several times when I was a kid.

I am average to fair complexion, and tan pretty ok over my body, but my face is red, and people often ask me if I've been drinking, or if I've been out in the sun a lot lately.

There must be some way to let my face be less red?

It absolutely gets noticeably better during winter months, and worse in summer.

Avoiding sun exposure for a couple years?

I don't want makeup.
