I'd like to get my dad a nice bottle of red wine to drink with Christmas dinner. I'm thinking a nice table wine that he maybe hasn't tried before. His favorites are Masi's Campofiorin and the Cesari Mara. In the past I've splurged on some nice Amarone's and Barolo's but I'm thinking I'd like to do something in the $10-$20 range. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Someone gave me a bottle of homemade red wine. It was filled right to the top of a screw-top bottle. It's a little fizzy, and light in colour (not as light as a rosé- just not as deeply coloured as most red wines I'm used to). I had a little sip and it doesn't taste too bad. Why is it fizzy? More importantly, should I drink it?

I find that French red wine has a very distinctive body and aftertaste. Is this truly specific to French wine, or have I not found some equivalents elsewhere in the world? [more inside]

I love red wine. However, after a few sips. it coats the bottom portion of my front teeth with a thick, dark, blackish film... not too attractive. How can I prevent this from happening. [more inside]
